This was a perfectly functioning scale until exactly one year and one month after purchasing, at which point the power switch is no longer reliably turning the scales on. It appears to be a mechanical issue as jiggling the switch further into the On position can get the scales to light up, and then it presumably loses contact again and turns off.Since the scales are not user serviceable, they are now a paperweight even though it's probably just the switch that's gone.I won't be buying another set of these.

Nothing to dislike. Glad I went with the Nano. It’s still sufficient for larger duties on the countertop, yet small enough for use under the expresso machine. I was concerned about the lack of the ability to use replaceable batteries or a power cord, but the internal battery life is nothing short of fantastic. Don’t concern yourself with thinking your going to be constantly charging the unit. If you are using it under an expresso machine the response time is more than satisfactory for all but world barista champions, lol. It’s just a really good, solid unit that is light years ahead of cheap scales and comes in at a price point that doesn’t break the bank. You would probably have to jump up to the $300 scales to find anything noticeably better.

I have the Acaia Lunar scale, but needed another for a different location. I was surprised how solid and responsive this one is. I will have to get used to the slight differences in button presses, a long press to reset the timer verses two quick ones on the Lunar. And I like the Lunar display better... they are both easy to read, I just think the Lunar's solid letters look better than the connected dots on the Black Mirror. Black Mirror does have a grams/second readout that's pretty interesting, even for espresso drinks. I like the Lunar's smaller size better, but both fit under my group head for shots into a cup, some espresso machines have less room and won't fit. Finally, at a quarter of the price ($60 vs $250) this Black Mirror is an easy yes for me. I hope it holds up!

After having a couple cheap scales that failed after a year or two of use, I decided to upgrade and picked up the Basic Plus for pour over. Right away I could feel that it was higher quality than what I had used before. The numbers are clear to read, but the buttons are a little hard to press accurately because they are touch buttons rather than ones with a defined border. I wanted to turn off the beeps and learn how to use the auto-timing mode, and the included instructions were clear enough to make this easy to do. I haven't been using the auto-timing mode because it automatically pauses if weight on the scale is reduced, which happens when I swirl pour over brewers, though this feature was just an interesting bonus for me rather than a requirement. One of the big advantages over the cheaper scales I've had is the accuracy. My previous scales would "snap" to round numbers like 10.0, 20.0, etc. when they're getting close. For example, I'd be measuring beans and my old scale would jump from 9.5 straight to 10.0 and then right to 10.5. From what I've read in reviews of other products and in forums, this is a common issue with cheaper scales, and it's an inconvenience at best. The Basic Plus doesn't have this problem at all and is super responsive. It changes quickly and clearly when even a single bean is added. In all, this has been a huge upgrade over cheaper scales. I was looking for something relatively basic with more reliable than what I had before that comes at a lower cost that scales with more features like the Acaia Pearl. In fact, I've used a Pearl and found this one nicer to use because it starts up immediately whereas the Pearl is slow to start up. It also requires an app to access the full set of features, which isn't needed for the Basic Plus.Pros:+Large, stable platform+Easy to read display+Auto timer available if you want it, but can be turned off if you don't+USB-C charging+Long battery life (well over a month with multiple brews per day)+Does not "snap" to round numbers like 10.0 like some cheaper scales do+Beeps can be easily turned off+No app requiredCons:-Timer stops during auto timing mode if you lift brewer to swirl, etc.-Does not have features of some higher end scales such as flow rate (may not be a con if you don't care about this)-Buttons aren't the most repsonsive

I had heard lots of reviews and recommendations for the Timemore Black Mirror coffee scales. I wanted a good one so I went with this Black Mirror Basic PRO. At first I loved it. It worked without a flaw and comparing it to other scales and calibration weights it was very accurate. It worked great for about nine months, then it started acting flaky. It did have one annoying issue before the big issues started. It tends to drift down with weight on it for any time over say about 10 second. It slowly starts drifting down in weight so after a minute on the scale something may read 1 gram lower than when you started. If you lift the item off and set it back down, it resets to the original weight before it starts drifting down again. The real problems however where as follows. First it started beeping all the time, even when turned off. I checked that it was charged and there was nothing on the platter except the silicone heat mat. I eventually had to resort to turning off the sound. Then the display started coming on and off, even when "turned off" with the physical swith. Now, about 11 months after getting it, it's still doing the turn on turn of issue where you can see the display lighting up, when turned off. When I turn it on all the icons are lit up and all the numbers are displaying 8. No matter what I do I can't get it to go out of that. I've tried powering it on with something on the scale and nothing on the scale. I've held down the right and left buttons, held them down together. All kinds of things but it is just crapped out.Thinking it may just be too low on power as the last time I got it to work it had one bar left on the charge indicator. I charged it for an hour and it didn't seem to take a charge and it still had all the same issues I described above. This is far too expensive of a scale for it to stop working in less than a year. This is extremely disappointing. I never stored it with anything on it and always stored it right side up. I never dropped it. I never got it wet internally. I would not recommend this scale to anyone.
