Difference Between SA155 and SA156
A bobbin's diameter and height are called its style. Each sewing machine brand and model uses a particular bobbin style and will not work with other bobbin styles.
- SA155 or the L style or Size L is 13/16 inch (20mm) in diameter (approximately the size of a nickel) and 5/16 inch (9mm) high. It's top and bottom, called the flanges, are flat. Most industrial sewing machines use this type of bobbin. This type is the most common embroidery bobbin for home and commercial sewing machines.
- SA156 - also known as Class 15, A style, or Size A has the same diameter and flat flanges but is taller at 7/16 inch (12mm) high. If your sewing machine makes computerized embroidery, it probably uses this type of bobbin.
Exercise due diligence and make sure you use the correct bobbins style, so you don't damage your embroidery sewing machine.

I purchased these many times in boxes of 100. Now i see the price is through the roof or if you buy what seems to be the correct price they have 25 or 50 bobbins. I'M done with these until the sky high price goes back down. PUT the quanity and price in BIG print then the customer can decide how bad they need them. These used to be a good value. Not any more. 1 star because of that!

Well unfortunately I didn’t check this sooner because they are labeled size L SA-155 but they are NOT!! I was in the middle of a project and my bobbin thread was getting low so being at a good spot I opened up these bobbins and thought I was on my way.....WRONG!! My machine stitches started to be a tangled mess of loops and birds nests!! After many more tries I decided to put in the old bobbin as it still had thread on it and my machine stitched perfectly!! Looking at the bobbins side by side you can DEFINITELY see there is a difference! Buyer beware!!!!!

I really like these bobbins so far! They're not overwound like the NEBs always are, and the thread itself is much nicer. The only issue I've had with these is that it runs so slickly through the bobbin case that I have to tighten up the screw (which I've never had to do before) because the bobbin thread kept pulling up even when the upper thread tension was so low that I was worried about 'loopies'. The end can occasionally be a little challenging to find, but I use a little brush to find it. Also, these work particularly well with the bobbin thread sensor. I've used about 25 so far, and every time the machine wants a new bobbin, it was down to the last few turns of thread. With the NEB bobbins, if the sensor didn't trip with a fairly significant amount of thread remaining on the bobbin (which happened most of the time) the end of the bobbin would frequently have issues with tightness. As in SO TIGHT it would ruin the embroidery - many fun times ripping out stitches that happened while I was sprinting up the stairs to rescue the machine because I heard "The Noise of Doom". I haven't had this problem with bobbins I've wound myself or with the Thread Nanny bobbins - only the NEB bobbins.For reference, I use a Husqvarna Viking Designer Diamond DeLuxe.

These bobbins are awesome. A lot of the time when I have ordered prewounds, it's hard to find the beginning thread and my machines think they're out long before they actually are. These are easy to find the start of. My machines (i've used them in two embroidery machines and a sewing machine so far) use them right to the very end. Really happy with my purchase and will definitely purchase these again.

I receive the package the next day, maybe because I live close by, but I did and was very impressed by that. I have a Vikings Diamond and wasn't sure if these bobbins would work because they tell you where you buy the machine you need to use their brand ($72 for 144 bobbins) and all those things, anyways I used my first bobbin yesterday to embroider letters on heavy fabric and the results were fabulous. I don't know how everything is going to work with different fabrics and or settings or if these bobbins will harm my machine in the long run, but so far I am happy with them. I guess time will tell.

Excellent bobbins. I must admit I was a bit skeptical when I purchased these as they were not a brand I knew. I have used several name brands of the pre-wound bobbins in the past 10 years and these bobbins have sewn out beautifully. I sew & embroidery on both brother & babylock embroidery machines and I can tell no difference in these bobbins and the expensive ones. These bobbins have been shared with several of my friends and they too have been very pleased with the preformance. I purchased these thru Amazon and received them in a matter of days and did not have to pay shipping, which was also an added bonus! I will be back for more of these excellent bobbins.
