I have used very high end versions of thrwad chasers. These do not remove as much material as chasing with a tap or die. They work as expected and similar to higher end tools at a good price point. Have not had to use very much thankfully so cannot speak to longevity. Seems robust and should hold up a while. The files appear solid but have not tried those yet. Very happy with thisnproduct and it's a good value.

On the bench today, I’ve got the ISINLASSO Thread Restorer Kit 61PCS UNC UNF & Metric Thread Chaser Tool Set Thread Repair Kit with Dies Taps Thread Files & Pitch Gauge Carrying Case for Automotive, Industrial & Mechanical Use.I’ll start off by saying that the case is barely functional. The majority of the pieces are held in mostly by hopes and dreams with gravity helping. So make sure you mark which way is up to avoid having to pick everything up and find its place again. Luckily when I opened mine, I noticed quick enough that I was able to close it back and most things went back into their proper slot due to the thin foam.More than a few of the black painted pieces either weren’t marked or they put such a thick coat of the paint that it completely hid the markings. I suspect that you’ll need to wear the paint down on those a bit before they are effective for their intended usage.Aside from those above negatives, it is a fairly comprehensive set with many, many thread size options that should work well for the occasional DIY user. Anyone that earns their living using tools like this would likely be looking elsewhere.

My DIY savvy husband wanted this set to complement the rest of the tools he is accumulating.This kit works to rework internal and external threads, both metric and SAE.The files are sharp and seem to get the job done well, he trialed using this a more coarse threaded bore in a piece of scrap metal and he achieved results that pleased him, it produced a more refined thread and didn't damage the threads but created a straighter thread for the bolt he was using to ease into. He suggested that this is a great tool at a decent value for any mechanically inclined individual or diy'er.

I had great success fixing several damaged nuts of a couple different sizes between 8 and 10mm that are welded to the lower frame on my truck before the 10x1.25 tap broke while I was repairing threads on my ATV. Overall, I really like this kit and the pitch gauges are fantastic!

The kit includes standard and fine threads for internal and external threads. I ran a clean out tap through a dirty hole in an engine block and it worked exactly as it should by capturing the debris in the hole and coming out with the tap. The thread files are sharp and precise. If you go any mechanical work, you need this kit. You should never run a regular tap to clean and straighten threads as it will cut the threads. This will not cut threads. It will clean and straighten threads and that's all. It is a very thorough kit for SAE and for metric and is a good value.
