This kit was not a bad price for what you receive, but its not as good of a quality product as the Heli-coil line. I used this to repair a rollator (wheeled walker) that is used daily by a disabled person to provide stability. The threads created by this in an aluminum rod to mount one of the front wheels was loose. We needed it for use immediately, so use of red loctite was hoped to be usable for holding it together till a new part could be received. After curing for 48 hours the lovtite wasnt able to make up for the loose tolerance of the poor thread repair... O wouldnt recommend these products.

Watched several videos to learn how to use this product to repair a mangled caliper bolt hole. Drilled for at least 30 minutes off and on, and eventually the bit stopped cutting. Not sure if it dulled or what, but couldn’t get all the way through the piece. Finally gave up and moved onto the tap since my replacement bolt was going to be shorter. The problem with the trap is its head was too big to fit in any of my 3 tap wrenches, and it was too big for any of them at the auto parts store or Lowe’s. Tried using a pair of locking pliers but it didn’t work. Pressing down with most of my weight on the tap while turning to cut and it still didn’t get the threads started. Huge waste of time and money. If it was a softer metal then maybe.

For the price of this otem I could've just bought and replaced the break caliper bracket, as one if the screws stripped the bracket hole. Drilling a larger hole and installing the coil spring was a task, but doable. Was very hard finding a 14mm screw to replace the original factory 12mm screw. It was a mission, but got it done, and well secured on the Caliper bracket. I will be getting new front Calipers soon since they run for around $100 for the pair at my local AutoZone or Advanced Auto Parts.

Tried to repair the rusted out threads on my 2015 Rav4 to install a hitch. Read all the reviews (not many on this one) and figured it was only one hole and I'll never use it again so I'll save some money and buy the cheaper brand. I was wrong. Some of the reviews state that the tap broke on first use. SAME HERE! The inserts seem to be okay but I don't really know cause I never got to use them. I know it's tempting but do yourself a favor and don't waste your time and money. I know some of the reviews were good but maybe they tried the kit with softer metal. I have no idea. Just a word to the wise, which I was not.By the way, I was lucky enough to have very little trouble getting the piece of the tap that broke off out. You may not be so lucky and need to go to a mechanic to get it out, costing much more than a new tap or kit.

I used the kit to repair corroded and damaged threads on Toyota RAV4 frame weld nuts used to mount a trailer hitch. With this kit, repair of the threads was far easier than I expected and the bolts mounting the hitch torqued down great.

Item worked exactly as described. Except the tap is larger than m12, i believe it's m14, so that you make a bigger hole to put the helicoil in, and so your m12 bolt can fit inside of that. This was something i was confused about, so hopefully this helps the next person.
