This is the second glove we’ve used for my son, now 11. Protects the thumb well and we cut off the tips for him to have more feel in the catchers glove.

Our competitive 18U club softball player has been using a defender glove for over 2 years now. She caught a bad pitch which made her thumb bend backwards and had a radial collateral ligament thumb sprain grade 2 (grade 3 is a complete tear). After her 11 week complete immobilization. We tried several different braces to ensure she did not get the same injury. The Evoshield one was easy to shape to her thumb but then she could not bend her thumb which made it difficult to catch. This one gives her enough protection but she did not lose the ability to move her thumb. This is the second one we had to buy because the last one the plastic protector split in half at Triple Crown World Series two weeks ago. I am so thankful she was wearing it because she could have easily re-injured it. She plays year round softball and practices 3-6 days a week depending on the time of year or is playing in tournaments or high school softball. Most of her pitchers are pitching around 55-65. Therefore we are feel it lasted a long time.It took our daughter a little while to get ideas to using it but she loves it now. We used the measurement guide and it fits perfectly. I added some pictures to show that she has a lot of mobility with it and it fits nicely in her catcher gloves.I recommend it to all catchers as it prevents one of the most common catching injuries.

This is a good glove for younger catchers working with experienced pitchers, a little bulky so catchers have to get used to it
