It had been using the D'Adarrio XT strings and loved them, but these sound and feel even better!

I have always preferred a nickel would .021 D string. Most banjo string sets have a .020 or .022 diameter D string. The only other brand with an .021 is Deering strings. It's a catchy marketing nitch that makes them unique. Now we have another choice. The quality of these Stringjoy string was excellent.

These Stringjoy banjo strings come in an easy-to-store box with individually packaged strings that say "modified atmospheric packaging". They probably contain no oxygen to avoid oxidation while stored. They are also made in the USA, in Nashville, where they aren't going to last long if they aren't good.I'm not going to put these on until the banjo is going to get some heavy use, so I'm reviewing this on the quality of the strings/how they look, and how the mandolin strings of this brand worked out.Anytime anyone picks up the mandolin, they're so playable, and the sound is so full and so much warmer and brighter than the strings that were on it before Stringjoy's, it's impossible not to notice. I can't help thinking "that's a recording sound." They instantly made the mandolin player in the house sound a step better than before. So I'm really looking forward to putting these on the banjo. The nice thing about these banjo strings is that they are boxed in a way that I can do that without concern about shelf wear, which is a serious problem with my prior guitar string brand. I'm so glad to have found this brand of strings.

I pretty much only buy String joy strings for my instruments now. They sound rich and full. They have a wonderful feel and are handmade in Nashville! Worth every penny.

So I popped my D string and needed to replace it.Ordered these cause they're cheap.None of the strings are labeled by note. Okay.Got to go down a lengthy rabbit hole regarding string gauges. Finally attempt to change the string. It immediately breaks.I am beyond frustrated with this purchase.

These are seriously great, very high quality, stainless steel strings and at a reasonable price. My only thing to note is that these seem to be pre-stretched. There's no stretch once you put them on, so make sure you leave enough room for adequate wraps on the tuning machines. Tune them up, play a bit, and Scream " I gots no sustain!"
