This item works great for centering over scribe lines or a center punch mark, and the edge finder attachment works as good as a regular edge finder but the diameter is 0.100" so it can fit in smaller spaces.

This is the real thing, an old school tool made in USA. No instructions included but it comes in a signature red Starrett cardboard box. This tool is used for locating a work piece typically on a milling machine. Run them at about 1000 rpm. The pointy one is used to center the spindle over layout lines / a center punch (turn on the spindle touch the side with something softer than hardened steel, I typically use my chip brush handle, let it self center then turn off the spindle, visually line up the tip with your layout mark). The ball probe end is exactly 0.250" in diameter. The disc probe is 0.100" in diameter. The ball and disk are good at locating holes and inside edges they can be touched to work piece edges like a regular edge finder at about 1000 rpm watching for the transition point.

Quality wiggler great for locating work. I purchased an import wiggler at first but was disappointed with the quality. This one is much nicer and actually usable. Buying this set and then the indicator holder separately is cheaper than buying the 5 piece set, you just don't get the cheesy vinyl case.
