I like these pencils but won't buy them again since they have no color names or specific numbers to identify an individual pencil. I have many pencils and without some information on the pencil I am not sure what color I am getting. Staedtler 1278 doesn't give information many colorists need.

I will be purchasing another set very soon, not because I need them, but for a back up! That is how much I love these pencils. They feel great using them and lay down so smooth.

I have purchased this brand many times. This selection is DEFINITELY not worth the money. Mainly pastel. No true primary colors. Not at all as represented on line on the packaging and multiple, multiple duplicate colors, even though the exterior may appear different. I find it hard to believe these are genuine.

STAEDTLER TRIANGULAR COLORED PENCILS are ALL I have ever dreamed of in a colored pencil! I like these even more than my Prismacolors and Artezas. Though wax-based, these have a "dry wax" texture. The color lays down quite easily on whatever paper I use, even computer printer paper. Just colored a page in "Flora Bella" by Peggy Jo Ackley and colored some in a Johanna Basford book, and on this better-than-average paper, the colors are VIVID, BLENDABLE, RESPONSIVE, BEAUTIFUL! Now, it all comes down to having a really good match between the colored pencil and the quality of the paper....tooth to be exact. I colored some hand drawn pictures on a sheet of Strathmore Colored Pencil Paper (400 Series), and the laydown was excellent with the good tooth properties. Blendable, burnishable, no less than lovely. Often, people describe a high quality colored pencil as being insufficient, when really what is wrong with their equation is that the paper is insufficient in tooth. Pencil of any sort requires tooth. Not all papers have good tooth. Almost all papers have coatings on them, unless otherwise specified as uncoated. But, TOOTH is the thing to look for. Nevertheless, my experience with these pencils is terrific. I cannot find words to describe how happy I am with them. As an RA sufferer, a pencil that has ease of use and color laydown is an asset to me for not only coloring pages in adult coloring books, but especially for the greeting cards I make, most often coloring stamped images. These sharpen to a great point for detailed areas, stay sharp for a long time, and the leads are strong. The price point for this grade of pencil is really, really good, and 72 pencils gives you alot of variety for color and shading! Truly enjoyable. Truly beautiful! I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good set of pencils that does not break the bank! You will not be disappointed! Kind and best regards, E. Hansen

I am a colored pencil-holic! In my opinion you can never have too many colored pencils. So, that being said, I have a few sets of colored pencils. Prismacolor Premier 48 plus several other colors purchased from open stock, Prismacolor Scholars 60, Prismacolor Verithins 24, Prang 50, Michael's Artist Loft 48 & 36, and Staedler 72, 2.9mm core triangular. I also bought a 6 piece set of Faber Castell Polychromos just because I have been reading about them and have been dying to try them. The Staedler set is great! Smooth color laydown, very blendable, and beautiful colors. I have neuropathy in my hands, so the triangular shape feels very good in my hands. I would put them right up there with Prismas! They sharpen beautifully and do not break. You can't beat the price. The largest set they sell is 72. I haven't used all of them yet, and they are not marked with color names, so I'm not sure if there are duplicates yet, but if you can't afford Prismas or Faber Castell Polychromos, give the Staedlers a try. You won't be disappointed, and you'll still have money left over!

I own a smaller set, and loved it so much that I had to upgrade to a larger set.If you love the rich buttery smooth soft feel, with a rich and vibrant color lay down, this is your go to coloring pencil choice. It does leave some white pigment on the first light stroke, but does not need excessive layering nor does it end up with the shiny look. Great to sharpen also, no splitting broken leads and I'm a heavy handed user- and that being said, any coloring pencil that doesn't leave a that unwanted shiny paper look especially on medicare paper often used for coloring books, is a big plus.It really should be right up there with the professional artist brands, and I own the Farber Castell 60 set and Prisms as well, so that is saying something. It also erases just as well as Farber Castell does- leaving behind only 10 percent color- with a normal eraser at that.It also should be noted that this brand doesn't list name of color on their pencils, but they run true to their outside pencil color or the color shown on front of the box.Additionally the triangle shape makes it so it can be super sharp for those pesky tiny areas of any picture pattern, yet blend and comfortably cover large areas, and be for easy hand hold.To sum it up, it is a must have in your coloring pencil collection.Note: I paid full list price, and this is my honest, and unaltered opinion and did not receive this to provide a review on.*I will note that my delivery has been delayed due to having been shipped to the wrong warehouse. It was supposed to arrive today (Wednesday), and I had ordered it on Sunday morning, and now it may not come until the following Monday. This is however not of any reflection of the product itself.*
