acheté pour le velo de mon fils qui avait du mal à passer les vitesses sur son velo 20", après changement du sélecteur qui est vendu avec le cable et changement de la gaine, le passage des vitesses est plus facile, mais cependant penser aussi à huiler le derailleur pour encore moins de resistance au passage de vitesses.

One thing to consider when fitting up a newbie to a bike--keep it simple, and easy to use. The SRAM shifting products are 1:1 actuation ratio; which means they require less effort to change gears front & back: remember to match these with other SRAM products; as there can be difficulties mixing brands that use 2:1 ratio. Another good reason for twisties: a lotta folks, young and old, don't have the hand/finger strength to use trigger shifters. Did I mention that they're also an economical way to go, too?

I purchased the 5 speed version of the shifter.This was a good replacement shifter in that my son was not able to shift gears before, and now he can. However, I don't think this is really compatible with the TD One derailleur that is on the bike. Of the five gears, he can get 1 and 5 and usually 3 but it doesn't quite line up with the others. Probably should get him a better derailleur but I think he will grow out of the bike soon and I didn't want to waste the money. This shifter works well and was easy to install. It came with the cable so I just slid the old one out and then this new cable in through the old shields. Adjusted it a bit and my son can now use 1st gear for going up hills. Until now he could only use 5th gear. Not really ideal.I liked this enough that I have also purchased the 7 speed version to replace the one on my own mountain bike.

Used on an old 5 speed hub that was made long before indexing was available. Instead of specific clicks there are slight notches so you can adjust just above or just below to get the right setting. Shifting from one to five and from five to one is very fast and precise.

This shifter was purchased for a bike my son will be taking to college. The used bike we obtained had a broken shifter. This was a great replacement. Came with a cable as well. It was an easy swap out and works great! I would highly recommend this shifter for similar use and would buy it again should the need arise. Shipping was quick and shifter was as promised. Overall a great buying experience.

Ordered 5 speed shifter, received 7 speed shifter. And; If you're anything like me; "to much hassel to return, will make it work" kind of a guy. :/**Update** Amazon sent me the correct shifter after I posted this review! Thanks Amazon, The right shifter is working perfectly :)

The SRAM shifter was received in the original packaging but the part does not match the picture or the installation instructions. The picture shows an adjustment screw for the cable but this shifter does not come with one. Even SRAM's Website shows and describes the screw. Had to return for a refund. Otherwise the part seemed to be well made for the price and probably would have functioned well if you don't need the adjustment at this end.
