Either they are too brittle, or they are just cheap. More than half are ruined after minimal use on carbon steel.

Makes the other auto punches look amateur. The center punch leaves about the same size indent as if you were using a hammer and standard punch. Therefore alleviating the need for a hammer and reducing tool bag weight when travelling.

made in the USA! That still means something to me at least and it's an incredibly well made product. I'm a knife maker / blacksmith and this just replaced a starrett that just broke on me. i can't believe how much better this works vs everything else i've tried in the last 20 years.

Whoever came up with this idea is a genus! They work perfectly. I put some shaft collars around them so I can hold them down better but don’t need to do that. Even if you can’t get a straight pull on the springs they still give you a nice punch mark. Comes in a nice sturdy case. Buy these you can’t go wrong with them.

Left a mark first time every time. Put my starter ding right where I put the tool. No need to worry about the automatic center punch skidding out of place or a hammer slipping. The carbide tipped one made clean detents in the hardest steel I could find. I'm pretty sure they will be hard to wear out any time soon.

Works great, but the springs get bent out of shape real easy. Thankfully, there's a lifetime warranty to make up for that.

The Spring Tools work very well, just as advertised, eliminating the need for a hammer. The punches made the indentations much more accurately than any I have made using the conventional hammer and strike-type punch.

I purchased these spring tools because driving small tack type fasteners is an almost impossible task with my Mickey Mouse fingers. The inertia developed by the springs is frankly, surprisingly powerful. Quality construction, should last a lifetime.
