Works well. Makes a good dimple even on steel. Knurling is just right for a good grip. A slight roughness/drag that I expect will smooth out with more use. Deducting one star for that since I think better manufacturing/machining/quality of components would let it work smoothly right out of the box.

I hardly got to use this punch before it broke. But since I didn’t start using it till after the return date, I’m stuck with it. I guess you get what you pay for. What did I expect when it’s made in China.

I needed a replacement auto center punch, and this one had decent reviews. Maybe I got a dud, but it doesn't "snap" probably half the time. This makes it hard to use, to the point of not being useful.

The MulWark Center Hole Punch package shows a website to register the product for Lifetime Warranty. After getting into the website I have to select a product to register. The center hole punch product number MLK-53856 is not on the list. I couldn’t register it for the “ Lifetime Warranty”. This is frustrating.

This is a pretty typical center punch - though maybe a bit bigger (longer) that others I have.(Six inches). The maching quality is fine (for the purpose) tho a bit coarse in terms of finish (chasing of the threads and knurling are not well buffed out, so a bit harsh to the touch). What sets this aside for me, though, is that the spring tension is quite high, so when it is 'released' it packs a heck of a punch - I tested it on a high quality (chrome or nicklel plated) door hinge and was surprised it left a noticeable dimple. One downside - if you care - is that I couldn't see any obvious way to significantly reduce the impact - most other punches I have 'unscrew' to reduce tension for a 'softer' push requirement and subsequent impact - this one doesn't seem to vary enough for me to notice. Not really a problem for me, as I'd prefer one that has a serious PUNCH anyway, and I have other 'smaller and gentler' automatic punches for wood.Adding this to my 'everyday' toolbag; recommended if you need a serious punch.
