Very sturdy, youtube offers tutorials on how to install, and a plus is that you can still use your iron sights due to the elevated rail height. I highly recommend lock thread once you are settled and to use shorter scope rings.

After struggling to get the old stripper clip guide off the rest went easy, but lets talk about the case it comes in. It was such a nice plastic case with 2 clasps that I wasn't going to throw it away, just way too nice. First I stuck my Girsan Hi-power in it, fit prefect but the Girsan comes with a nice case from the factory, but my Fatih Beretta M-84 clone did not, so not only does it fit perfect but I was able to put the extra magazine in there with it. Prefect repurposing.

Excellent piece of kit. Well made. Did not move after a several dozen rounds.

A lot of people complain about this amount that it's cheap and it's not well-made, but that has not been my experience. I thought it well-made and it doesn't cause any problem with brass ejection at all, furthermore you can still use the sights to some degree, follow the instructions and install as directed and you will not have any problem.I've heard of people saying they had a wandering zero I can't imagine how that would happen after you shape it to your receiver. I ordered a second mount from Amazon on December 26/2017. Shipment lost, no mount and still no refund on March 23 2018. Do not purchase

Pros: - apparently it works. This mount seem to hold zero well.Cons:- after driving ~4 hours to a hunting spot, the rear screw got loose. I tighten it by hand and it didn't seem to affect zero - it seems that other screws are more important and these held well - but nevertheless this was disappointing; - installation guide is bad. Photos are very small and can hardly understandable. Sometimes guide is plainly wrong: it instructs to slide the clip guide from a wrong side (right vs. left); rear nut could be installed incorrectly and the guide doesn't mention that. I had to do lots of reading on forums and other reviews to install this thing properly; - despite what installation guide says, it seems that loctite _must_ be applied to a rear screw. It didn't hold in place without loctite (see above). - expensive. $120 for a solid piece of metal seem to be a lot of money!Note: I had to spend two hours with hand tools installing this thing. Filing the clip guide was necessary. But M1A is notoriously difficult to scope, so this is a relatively minor inconvenience.

I had my m1a scout squad in a troy mcs chassis with my Nikon m308 scope. But it made it to heavy for lugging around while deer hunting. So I decided to go with the significantly lighter original stock. I looked among a good number of sight mounts. I finally settled on the Springfield Armories gen 4 scope mount. It was designed by the makers of the rifle so no brainer there.Easily installed ( by my gunsmith , but hey, I watched) It was made from milled aluminum. Very sturdy but a little lighter and a lot cheaper than steel.I might have pony upped the double cost for steel if I was a competition shooter or I had a national match m1a. Plus it was one of the few mounts that allowed you to cowitness your excellent existing iron sights with optics. Many of the other sight mounts did not allow to use your existing iron sights. Which was huge for me. The only negative for me was the 2 huge screws on the side.I am very happy with my 1 moa m1a scout squad rifle. Possibly sub moa in a better shooters hands.

Searched the reviews and looked through many web pages and finally bought the Springfield 4th Generation Mount. Great price and quick delivery through Amazon.comThe M1A is just under 10 pounds and every ounce saved with ad ons helps - so that's why I went with an aluminum scope mount. I try to stay with original manufacturer parts/accessories when I can - and I am glad I did with this scope mount for my Springfield M1A Loaded.Based on the other reviews and the need for some gun-smithing to mount it, I brought the scope mount to my gun store and they mounted it for free. (Nothing like a good relationship with a local/family owned gun shop.) I switch between two scopes on this mount - one is a red dot and the second is medium range mil dot depending on if I am varmint shooting or going on a hunting trip or want to practice at the range. Both mount with low lever rings. The red dot I mount to the front rail and when I use the medium range scope it goes on both. While you will need a cheek pad for the higher eye/scope position this mount requires, it is not as inconvenient to use or apply as noted in a prior review. Both scopes work great with this mount and so far its solid and tight on my M1A after multiple visits to the range, a few scope changes and one coyote.Plus it looks great on the M1A. There are cheaper and more expensive mounts aftermarket, but the SA MA4GENAM is rock solid on the M1A and that's what I wanted from an aluminum scope mount.
