It is lower-end blu-ray player and performance is really excellent(Sound, Picture). It supports most of commonly used video formats including .mkv files.Generally they won't provide HDMI cable but i have received with cable and 1 Movie Blu-ray disc @5780.It doesn't have much options for video/audio adjustments when playing via USB.Overall, It's a worth buy for someone who needs a bluray player to enjoy movies through USB/HDD.Thanks to Amazon!! for selling at right price :)

I searched for a replacement Blu-Ray player for a couple months, reading every review that I could find. I was replacing a very good Samsung Blu-Ray home theater system that I gave to my parents because I purchased a ZVOX 580. I narrowed it down to Sony and LG because, mainly, they supported the Amazon Instant Streaming Video app. The Samsung did not offer it, for whatever reason. I did not care for Wi-Fi because it would be placed next to my router. I also do not care for the 3D feature in its current state. I think it's a huge waste of money and effort, even though I have a 3D-capable Sharp Aquos Quattron. So, basically, my requirements were:- App Ready (I needed the Amazon Instant Video App)- Did not need Wi-Fi- Did not need 3D- Wanted 1080p Upscaling- Sleek and CompactThe Sony BDP-S1100 fit the bill perfectly as a no-frills Blu-Ray player that gave me exactly what I needed for an awesome price. I purchased it used, but you would never be able to tell. I purchased it for under $35 with Prime shipping. Best deal ever! It arrived a day earlier than expected, and setup was less than 15 minutes (mainly because it needed to update, and then sync with my Amazon Prime account). People here make too much out of the easy setup. If you follow the directions, you won't have any issues. Just follow the directions!Highly recommended if you need a Blu-Ray player.

This a great blu ray player, works really well when paired with a Sony Bravia TV. When you turn it on the tv auto changes to the correct input channel for the player, the remote is pre-programmed to work for my tv, so I only need the player remote when watching movies. Great quality player at a good price for Sony. Plays all the blu ray's I have with no issues, recommend this player.

This player is a great entry level player for someone who is looking to buy their first BD player. This player will play pretty much anything you have in your disc library. It will access the internet to use apps like Huluplus, Netflix, Amazon instant, etc... The audio preamp is a nice one for it's price range. I was surprised to hear a major difference between the first BD player I had and this one. Now be aware, on the back of this player there is only an HDMI out, coaxial audio out, and an ethernet input. This unit does not have a fiber optic audio output and it does not have built in wireless internet. I was prepared for this fact and this player works well! Now there is a usb jack on the front of the player but I think it is for playing content only, not for a wireless internet adapter. The one difficulty I had with this player is getting it to access the internet. Everything set up easily enough, it detected my router and set itself up accordingly, tested and had access to the internet. But it would not access a thing on the internet. I searched forums, I even called support at Sony (he thought the player was defective) to no avail. I finally stumbled onto a forum with a solution for another player that actually worked for mine. When setting up the network, under the internet IP address portion of the setup, I found that I had to set up 2 settings under that heading to make this thing work. This is what I changed:Primary DNS - 8.8.8.8Secondary DNS - 8.8.4.4After I changed those 2 settings, the network accessed the internet flawlessly. It took me hours before I found this fix. If you're having the same difficulty, give this solution a shot. Hopefully you find this review and this solution works for you before you spend hours trying everything else. :-)Buy this player with confidence. I think when you hook it up and start using it, I think you will be impressed.Btw, I own a Sony Bravia TV and the TV instantly recognized the BD player and set itself up to interact with the player using it's remote and automatically labeled the HDMI port I plugged it into as BD! I thought that was kinda cool.

I bought this Blu-ray player because of its price, its ability to play Amazon Instant Video and its component audio jack, which allowed me to connect it to the last available input on my Yamaha sound bar. I didn't really research other features of this player, but I've since discovered that this Sony was a great choice on my part, for a few other reasons:1. It loads discs very quickly, much faster than any DVD player I've ever used.2. It comes with an excellent remote. At first I liked the remote because it just had a nice feel to it, with intuitively placed buttons that required no getting used to. I really came to appreciate the Sony remote after house-sitting for friends who have Samsung DVD players--I honestly hated the Samsung remotes and never got used to them. I have a friend who bought the Wi-Fi version of this Blu-ray player, and it came with the same Sony remote that I have.3. This player's Amazon Instant Video app is easy to use. It provides a better user experience than my Verizon FiOS video on demand, mainly because it rewinds and fast-forwards with more precision and the user interface is more attractive.4. It's very small and light. Probably for this reason it doesn't have a display of its own, but I really don't need a fourth device with a glowing clock under my TV.Over the years I've had a love-hate relationship with Sony, but they got it right with this product as far as I'm concerned.
