I ordered two four foot lengths and they came nicely sanded, I had only one touch up with fine grit paper. The hardware has a nice finish with no sharp or variegated edges. I wish I had ordered six foot lengths instead, but that is on me - even though I measured - I am a neophyte who failed to realize how the finished project might not help me get up and down stairs as easily as hoped. My spouse assisted in placement and drilled the holes needed. We did substitute much longer screws and made certain to drill into studs rather than wallboard. I feel this was good value for the money and they do look quite nice. You will have to apply a finish to them yourself to match your decor as they are not sealed. That's alright as it would have made them more labor intensive and more expensive from the supply side of the equation. I am procrastinating on that until I can get to the local box stores to pick a finish in person.

I highly recommend this railing. It was easy to install and the hardest was to match angle and align with other side with old rail. The wood was very nice red oak. I used atwitch pine gel stain (matching to chart applied to red oak)was shipped from Amazon seller, was packaged well. I highly recommend this product and seller.

Truth be told, I haven't yet installed the handrail (need to take the old one down to make sure it's going to fit my particular staircase), but installation doesn't look at all difficult. What I can say at this point is that it's beautiful, heavy wood and really well-made. I purchased it because I didn't want to mess around with the wall returns if I made my own...a real pain in the rear, especially if you don't have the right tools and are a lightweight DIYer. The one thing is that, given the style of my staircase, I'm going to need to purchase another bracket (the 7' long rail comes with 2), but they're inexpensive on Amazon so no big deal. I'm hoping this is a perfect fit so I don't have to return it...really pleased with the quality and style.

Amazon had the best price for this railing. This came promptly and as described.I purchased this particular railing because I could order it to the proper length with "returns." Most building codes require "returns." I needed the longest length they offered and it was perfect. It comes unfinished. I chose to coat it with polyurethane to preserve the beauty of the wood. Coating took the most time of the entire process.I was a bit concerned that two supports might not be enough, but I was pleasantly surprised that two works just fine! If think you might need another support, wait until you install it before purchasing. And, you can purchase a near-identical support from your local big-box hardware store.I'm very pleased with my purchase and installation. It looks great and works great!

This product is nicely finished and the wood took to stain very nicely. I then put one coat of Varathane Triple Strength Polyurethane on it. It looks great! I was impressed with the quality and sturdiness all around, but especially of the hardware that came with it. I was concerned the antique brass looked rough in the online photo, but it's nice and smooth and a uniform dulled brass so it's not like shiny brass nor mottled.

I bought the six-foot model. It worked perfectly. I was concerned about how sturdy it would be with the support of only two brackets, but there was no worry. It is super sturdy with only the brackets for support and the ends unattached. I was concerned about the information provided on the pilot holes for the screws. Only one number was given for two different size screws. In the description, 3/16 inch is given for attaching the rail to the brackets, but no number is given for attaching the bracket to the wall. My experimentation gave me 5/32 inch drill for attaching the rail to the brackets and 3/16 inch for attaching the bracket to the wall. No installation instructions were included in the package. I would have given 5 stars if rudimentary installation instructions had been included in the package and the instructions had included pilot hole information.
