Awesome product, very excited to have this for my R5 mark ii. It’s functional, fits perfect, and doesn’t feel too large or overbearing, so I can leave it on the body even when I’m not doing video. Extremely easy to connect and the three points of contact makes it grip perfectly so you know it’s secure no matter what happens.

I love this cage. With an attachment of a plate to the side it does everything an L-bracket does and more, plus it allows for the complete movement of the swing out LCD screen.One annoyance. I don't like the placement of the "SmallRig" label right over the Canon label on my camera. I find it ostentatious that the manufacturer of an accessory would put their name "SmallRig" so boldly over that of a $4300 Canon Camera. So I blacked out the SmallRig label completely with black paint. I think a better placement the SmallRig label would be on the baseplate of the cage.

Brought this to use on a r5 mark ii and it fits perfect. very nicely engineered piece of metal with a lot of options for fitting other things to the camera. This is my first smallrig accessory and since getting it i have brought a few other things I'm also very happy with.as a bonus i've found that it fits my canon r6 (mark i) perfectly as well.edit: forgot to mention that the back screen and top lcd protectors fit really well and are a nice touch :)

I’ve been super excited about moving from my 5D Mark IV to mirrorless and specifically the R5 Mark ii. One of the things I was excited about was the camera body being smaller and more comfortable in my hand. I was also super excited for this item to protect my camera while having a built in tripod mount. Unfortunately, this is way too bulky on the right hand making it bigger than my old cameras grip and making me unable to reach all the right hand controls. I don’t have tiny hands but do wear a small adult glove to give some perspective. If you have larger hands, this should be no issue for you. I’ll just have to wait for someone to release a silicone cover for the R5 Mark ii to protect my camera body.

The fit for the Canon R5mkii is very great the built quality as always from small rig products is top of the line the grip is very comfortable multiple holes where you can attach mics handles lights monitors functions very well helps with video usage and the design is very great without sacrificing the functionality of the camera cage

Hallo,der SMALLRIG ''Black Mamba'' Kamerakäfig für die Canon EOS R5 Mark II ist sehr gut verarbeitet und passt perfekt.Ich bin zwar kein Filmemacher oder Vlogger, lediglich ein ambitionierter Hobbyfotograf, habe mich aber für das Cage entschieden weil es einen guten Schutz für den Kamerabody bietet wenn man mal nicht aufpasst und die Kamer irgendwo gegenschlägt, bis dato habe ich einen L-Winkel benutzt aber der bietet weniger Schutz für das Gehäuse und will ich mal ein Foto Hochkant machen kann ich auch den Kugelkopf schwenken.Neben der "Schutzfunktion" bietet das Cage aber auch viele Aufnahmepunkte und unten natürlich Arca Swiss Kompatibilität.Das Cage wird an 3 Punkten an der Kamera fixiert (unten an der Gewindeaufnahme und an den beiden Gurtschlaufen des Gehäuses, siehe Bilder) und sitzt dadurch bombenfest an den Stellen wo das Cage Kontakt mit dem Gehäuse hat sind Gummierungen am Cage damit das Gehäuse nicht verkratzt.Vom Handling ist man nicht eingeschränkt, lediglich das Akku Fach lässt sich etwas schlechter öffnen wenn man kurze Fingernägel hat, und die kleine zusätzliche Wulst unter dem Auslöser empfinde ich sogar als angenehm.Der kleine Montageschlüssel sitzt zwar recht fest in seinen Magnethalterung aber da ich auf Nummer sicher gehen will werde ich ihn auf Fototouren lieber abnehmen.Ich bin sehr zufrieden und gebe 5 Sterne.

Cage SmallRig livrée dans une boite carton bien protégée, avec aussi une protection d'écran et une protection du viseur.La cage en elle même est en matériaux composite, assez léger, mais rigide.La mise en place nécessite de dévisser deux ergots sur chaque côté, et les revisser dans le passage de la lanière d'origine du boitier. Et fixation par le dessous du boitier par la fixation trépied d'origine. Une fois en place, ça ne bouge plus ! La cage épouse les formes du boitier lui donnant un certain style.Pas mal de pas de vis pour fixer des accessoires et un sabot flash sur le côté gauche.Concernant la protection d'écran, elle s'adapte pile à l'écran, parfait.La protection du viseur par contre, est sous dimensionnée, j'imagine pour pouvoir la retirer plus facilement.Très bonne cage pour le R5 mark II !

I had a smallrig half cage on my R5 before so I was familiar with the brand and the convenience of a cage. So when I got the R5 Mark II, I knew I had to get a cage. I ordered this Black Mamba cage because I do not have a need to load up a lot of accessories on my cage, just usually a microphone mount, maybe a level and a cable guide. So, I ordered this sleeker Black Mamba rather than the original style cage because I heard so much about it. First of all, there is a strap lugs on top and bottom, so it was easy to use with my hand strap that I use for grip. Then the cage is around and protects both sides on the camera and provides a dovetail for the bottom, and even will fit with a camera skin on the camera. The original Black Mamba cage for the R5 had a tendency to rub the camera, but I have not found this the case here.There is a set screw that needs to be engaged to hold the cage strongly in place, some may object to that, but I only found it disagreeable when I needed to remove the cage fully. The SmallRig designers did a good job making sure it did not interfere with any of the ports, battery of card. Lastly, the wrench on the bottom is oh so handy, but only really held into place with a magnet. So, I taped mine down with gaffers tape and it is still on the camera!

This Smallrig cage is very nice. Fits perfectly and is nicely machined. Has all the features as you would expect from Smallrig, and this kit also comes with a nice top handle and cable keeper. I really like most everything about this kit (by the way, this is my 5th Smallrig cage) except for the finish. It has some kind of a gritty texture which, to me, feels like nails on a chalk board. I wish they went with their usual smooth finish. Overall, this is a small issue, and I will still use it for many years, but in my mind, the finish was a solution without a problem. The finish is a 1 star ding in my review.
