I was pleasantly surprised to see these very inexpensive microphones recommended to use on top and bottom snare in the studio. Along with some very expensive microphones on other elements of the drum kit. They are the industry standard for a reason. And they sound amazing!

I use these to mic a vibraphone for live performance. They sound so good that I now use them for tracking, too and rarely setup expensive ribbons.

Shure is as dependable as the sun coming up.I've heard one can use the SM57 as a hammer to knock in a nail then place on mic stand and no loss of audio quality...although I won't be trying that out.These are workhorses and 100% dependable - my own collection I've had for three decades and recently added a couple more to additional sound reinforcement - no difference in audio quality between the old and new.
