This floor mat does not have suction cups and it also doesn’t really absorb any water. It’s made from a mesh type plastic material that actually feels really good on your feet. I don’t have to risk my life every time I wash the bottom of my feet now. Before getting this shower mat, I would have to say a prayer and do 10 Hail Marys every time i would put my foot back down after soaping it up, and it’s a miracle I’m alive! But now that I have this shower mat, I can get my feet as soapy as I want and don’t have to worry about needing a lifeline “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” emergency assistive device. I stand it up on one side like the directions say to allow it to dry between after use and so far its still in great shape and doesn’t have any mildew or gross bacteria build up. Because of what its made of, it doesn’t need suction cups and is very stable.

I bought this to hide stains inside a bathtub, but that was not a good choice. While it provides a solid non-slip surface when standing up, it's not appropriate for laying down in the tub. It's made from PVC plastic and basically has the texture of a giant green dish scrubber pad. It's not quite as abrasive as a loofah, but it's not a pleasant sensation on your backside.So instead, I use this mat inside the tub only when taking a shower, and it works very well for that purpose. It stays in place without slipping, while providing a fair degree of underfoot cushioning.The mat is about 1/2" thick and is backed by typical sure-grip shelf liner. Outside of the shelf-liner, the material is the same throughout.On the plus side, at 16" x 36" the mat is appropriately sized to be either inside or outside a bathtub. It could also be cut with scissors to use in a smaller shower enclosure. This mat is very durable and has an attractive look. It's going to look as good a few years from now as it looks now. The edges are clean and won't fray. The colors are embedded in the material, so they aren't going to fade.On the negative side, the mat absorbs and retains moisture, so I wouldn't use it on any floor surface where moisture accumulation could cause damage. You are going to want to hang this up to dry between uses (I fold it over the edge of the bathtub), or it will never dry and will breed bacteria and odor. Both the top and bottom surfaces attract any wandering debris, and need to be periodically rinsed off. You can hand-scrub this mat with no risk or harming the surface or color, but I wouldn't put it through a washing machine.

This is not only a beautiful mat, but it's also the perfect size and shape for its intended purpose. It's effective as a loofah for your feet but also absorbant and non-slip. And despite the texture that makes it a good loofah, it's also soft and comfortable under your feet. It's well crafted and seems like it will hold up a long while. But to keep it in top shape, it's best to follow the directions of hanging it or tilting it up in the tub so it can drain/dry quickly and stay fresher and cleaner.

This mat worked as described on the product page. It was non slip, easy to cut and fit, and easy to clean. So why am I rating this 3 stars? Because it was uncomfortable to stand on in a shower or bathtub. The photos make it look fairly smooth and soft, instead it has a strange texture, similar to velcro, but softer. It feels like you are walking on something meant more for a warehouse than a bathroom. As for sitting on it during a bath? Not recommended.On the plus side, our dog liked it, and it made it easier to clean his paws before going inside.3/5 Stars.

This is a great idea for a shower mat INSIDE your shower if you need one. It is not good for outside your shower because it is like standing on plastic ramen noodles and it does not absorb water like a traditional shower mat. Your feet will stay wet as it is not absorbent and not for drying your feet. This is a inside the shower mat only. It is not at all comfortable to stand on as I said it is like standing on plastic ramen noodles. Get this only if you need something to stand on in your shower for some reason. The instructions say it has to be rinsed out with soapy water and then laid out to dry. Do not recommend.
