The system works well and I believe it's my fault for not installing it well (some of the gears don'tstill work), but the main issue is that this rotating system is difficult to use if you sweat a lot or don't use gloves because it slips in your wrist.

Left shifter was not a 3 speed. The range was from low to way past three speeds to high

I have a very similar version of this twist shifter that came stock on my bike. The shifting of gears works just fine. Very convenient to shift and have your hands in a position to use the brakes simultaneously, if necessary. Only concern I’ve had is not being able to easily see which gear I’m in on the right side of the handlebars or the range I’m in on the left side of the handlebars. The transparent plastic window seems to reflect sunlight in such a way that the numbers of the gears on the other side of the window are very difficult to see when riding. The glare causes the numbers to be washed out. Knowing which gear you are in would have to be one of the most important features of any shifter.

I received the 8 speed shifters and installed them on a Hase' Ketweisel recumbent. It was quick and easy.I recommend them and be sure you mate them to a Shimano derailrues!
