My 11 year old son's Mountain Bike shifter (rear gears) that comes with the bike suddenly stopped working. The front shifter still works but this unit comes in as a pair. So i decided to remove both existing shifters and put in this new pair. Super easy to install and makes adjustment before tightening the nuts that holds the cable shifter. Cleaned all the gears and chain with degreaser and generously applied lithium grease to help reduce noise during shifting and to improve the performance of metal to metal contact during use. I have to test it for myself before allowing my son to ride his bike again and he was super happy I was able to get his bike up and running again when he needed it.An affordable , quick and easy replacement. This shifter works on 3x6 speed and should fit common or standard mountain bikes.Highly recommended!

The product was very easy to install ,problem to make the right adjustments to make the derailler operate correctly . Problem could be the derailler mechanism?

My son's bike shifter broke on his cheap W***art bike. I found this hoping it would work as a replacement and it was almost an exact perfect replacement of the original. It works well enough for what it is and the price. I don't know how long it will hold up but his bike is functioning again.

So far I've bought a 3x7 set for a GT Palomar, a 3x8 set for a friends GT (both bikes are from the early 2000's with Shimano Tourney derailleur sets) and the ease of installation, the way the shifters have performed, have been better than the stock grip shifts that were on the bikes.I can't advise on long term durability, as they've only been installed a few months. But as of now I have no regrets. In this case...I pulled a relatives hardly ridden Next Power Climber (Dynacraft Walmart bicycle) out of a shed, was cleaning/tuning it up for sale and figured a 3x6 set would solve the shifting issues the bicycle was having. The installation, like the other two before it, was quick and easy. A little rubbing alcohol under the hand grips to remove them, and a small metric allen wrench to remove the stock Falcon shifters and install the Microshifts. However, adjusting the Falcon derailleurs was an experience. The rear derailleur was a challenge. It got close, but wasn't as consistently smooth as I wanted. The front derailleur adjustment was another story. It did not want to shift correctly on the front chain rings no matter what I did. In the end, I found that if I left some slack in the cable, instead of pulling it taught after setting the L screw, the bicycle would finally hit all three chain rings in their indexed position. Is it perfect? No.Sometimes you have to float a rear derailleur shift slightly past the "click" then let it drop back to insure the shift is complete. Sometimes you have to aggressively shift between the first and second chain rings with the front derailleur to insure a complete shift. Although the front derailleur is operating smoothly and there are no cable issues, sometimes it hangs instead of snapping into place, when you down shift or up shift. I think the situation is due to the Falcon front derailleur as the original grip shifter was not a 1-2-3 index. While there was a 1-2-3 on the stock shifter, there were also marks between the gears that lead me to believe it was a friction shift derailleur. While the bike probably shifted better than it ever had, I became frustrated that the shifting wasn't consistently smooth.Because of my conscience and the fact that I believe bicycles are supposed to be fun to ride, I decided I couldn't put it up for sale like that. So, I installed Shimano Tourney derailleurs in the front and rear.Suddenly, the shifting dialed in easily on the stock chain ring and freewheel. The shifting was smooth, consistent and the bike rode like a far more expensive bike than it was.Because of the derailleur upgrade, I lost money when I sold the bike But, the person that bought it, loved how it rode and shifted, and was looking forward to riding it with their grand daughter. The new owner loved it and one less "big box" bicycle in a landfill. Win/win.Suggestions to anyone looking to make this purchase...If you're not familiar with indexed shifting... search rear derailleur adjustment and watch the Park Tool Video or others on the net. I had no clue and learned a lot. It's probably what helped me make the first installation work with the factory Falcon derailleurs.Make sure your front and rear derailleurs are clean, de-greased and the pivot points oiled. Also make sure your rear derailleur hanger is straight. Maybe even replace your cable housings.Do some research on your derailleur to see if they are compatible with the Microshift. While I made the Falcon combination work on this Next bicycle, the final solution was new Shimano derailleurs.Also... Make sure your derailleurs are Indexed shifting and not Friction shift. In my case, the Falcon rear derailleur was Index shifting, which is why I was able to get it close. The front derailleur was friction shift, which does not work easily with indexed shifters.Buy cable crimps and new housing if you need it. While I can't say enough good about the shifters, they do not come with housing or cable crimps.Lastly, if you are like me, do not have a bike stand and do a lot of maintenance with the bicycle upside down, protect your handle bars and seat. I wish I'd figured this simple concept out years ago as it would have saved a lot of scratches and damage..

This product came with no installation instructions which i believe would be a great help to anyone trying to fit them. I have what seems to be an endless series of adjustments ahead of me before i will be able to get them to work.

Bought these for my old 2003 Huffy Howler (my current pandemic survival vehicle) to get it back up to speed and all gearing restored. These work good. The right shifter works good with the rear derailleur made by Falcon and which has seen better days. Despite that, the shifter brought the bike back to life. So far, so good. Only have needed to do occasional tweaks as the shifters and cables get broke in good. That's to be expected. Left shifter works good but sometimes needs a tweak too with use as sometimes it doesn't want to drop to smallest sprocket. Pretty sure that's an adjustment issue people are experiencing as everything gets broke in from being used. So remember that if you have issues dropping to smallest sprocket, give a little tweak to front derailleur set screw and check cable tension.Seller packed the parts well and parts were brand new, unused, as advertised. Fit the old bike flawlessly and were easy to install. The shifters also allow for changing out cables in the future should you break one or otherwise need a new cable, at least you won't have to buy new shifters, just replace the cable. So far I'm very pleased with this product and will definitely return for more as needed. One last thing, these seem to be a notch above what you typically see provided with big box store budget bikes. These are pretty decent quality.EDIT: Just want to add a useful tip as I've ridden with these in the rain 2 or 3 times now in the past week. Do yourself a favor and get yourself some cycling gloves for when you find yourself in the rain. They have awesome grip when dry, but as with every other twist shifter, they get slippery when wet and become difficult to shift.
