This is one of the least expensive shifters from Shimano so don't expect much. It's bulky but it gets the job done. It was for a conversion from drop bars to upright bars, so I needed a new shifter and brakes. These worked fine for a road bike with a 9-speed Shimano derailleur.

I replaced my Shimano combo brake and shifter levers with these. I installed cane creek 200 bar end brake levers on my XLC BarEnds BE-01 SB-Plus bar ends as that is where I have my hands 99% of the time because it is so comfortable. I put XLC bike grips Bar Grips GR-G09, soft over the bar ends.I love these shifters as they work great and I love the easy to read display.
