I have mixed feelings about Shars; some things are overpriced and not that great, but there are some things that are unexpectedly good. This arbor is definitely the latter; the first thing that I noticed is that it came an inspection report. Out of curiosity more than anything, I measured it to see if the report was actually for that arbor... It was, and all ofThe critical dimensions were comfortably within spec. It is such a nice fit in my face mills that I actually have to clean and stone the mounting surfaces and be very careful to keep the pilot straight when inserting it into the face mill. I didn’t bother to measure the runout because I get beautifully smooth finishes, which wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t holding the tool true. It even came with an allen key for tightening the nut.

Well machined and accurate with attention to the details like stoning the sharp edge off the key groove. I took a chance based on another person’s review who was paying attention to the right things and I agree. I will be looking at more SHARS products for my machining needs in the future.

Head is black oxide finished, (precision surfaces ground, of course), also head has a lower profile than shown. I suppose that could vary from lot to lot. Head diameter 2.25", head height .75", nose length .68", nose diameter .9997". Axial (face) runout
