This lighter works great. Powerful and fast. Simply hold against the charcoal and it will start glowing red. Bulk back slightly and let the blower work. No more petroleum taste or smell. I highly recommend this igniter.

This is like a super size torch type lighter. Super cool. Setup was easy. Very handy for lots of outdoor projects. My husband loves it!

I finally got to use this in my fireplace as my chimney needed to be cleaned first. I followed the instructions and held trigger and put the heater right up to the dry log for well over a minute and nothing happened. So I tried it on the chemically treated fire starter that I usually light with a match, and the same thing…nothing happened. The unit gets red hot but it wouldn’t start a fire. So I used a match and got the fire starter going to light the wood. For the heck of it, I tried fanning the fire starter with just the air from the unit and it blew out the fire starter. I will try the blower section of it to rekindle the logs a little later. I may try it this summer on charcoal for my charcoal grill. If it works then, I’ll update this review and add some stars, but for now it only gets 2 stars from me.

I thought this was a wireless one, but it's wired, that's not a big deal in itself but the cable is very short, I was hoping to use this in a fireplace but there is no outlets around, so I won't be able to use this

I've been cooking with charcoal/wood my whole life. I graduated from lighter fluid starters years ago. Now I can't stand the smell. This starter offers a way to start your charcoal with lighter fluid. I've tested it and it does work.My main (1 star) issue is that you have to hold the trigger the whole time you're using it. Now, I start charcoal in a chimney on a butane burner which I can leave while I get my mise en place. It would be great if you could lock the trigger so the fire can start while you catch up on the game.
