This is a very well made camping mess set. So 7 nights of camping and my only complaint is when you put super hot food on the plate you have to be careful the stainless steel retains the heat. But that's also a plus my meals stayed hot even in 60° and lower temps. They're lightweight but very sturdy and well made . Loved the bowls for my chili my oatmeal... Clean up is a breeze. I'd been using silicone dinnerware by the same company actually. This is the only set I'll be packing from now on

When car camping in the past, I've gone the route of disposable dishes, but frankly, I got sick of it. There's always so much trash, and the cost adds up. This is the best way to avoid that! Sea to Summit's Detour series is everything a car camper could want. I love that the dishes are made of stainless steel, because it makes them easy to clean, and prevents them from getting too messed up if they rattle around. The plates and bowls are the right size for camping meals. I wish the cups were a little bigger, but that's just a nitpick. The quality is perfect, and I'm glad I got these. They're a great camping investment.

Though the set contains individually light sturdy pieces, together they do add significant weight to a pack. But if staying long enough at a site, this set could be an option to consider. However, certain aspects of the set are annoying. The cups can't take heat: the metal rim instantly gets hot, so I poured my coffee into a different mug to not scald my fingers or lips. The silicone gets hot also, but not as fast as the metal. Both sets of bowls and plates have rings of silicone edging along the bottom, which is nice for gripping the surface of whatever object it is placed on, but the middle of each piece convex in so that when pressed by any utensil, it indents down, then pops back up. It was annoying and amusing at the same time. It is a new way to play with my food. I would leave the cups at home, and take just a plate or bowl, at most, in my backpack.

This collapsible set of plates and mugs is extremely handy and fits well. Inside of a backpack that has limited room. The price is pretty high considering there is only two of each the plate bowl and cup. I’m not quite certain the value is here although it is Very important to be able to consolidate the things that you take with you on camping trips. I’m just not certain the real estate is worth that much.. I could easily give this product five stars if it were about 30% cheaper. I am finding myself only giving this product for stars and I hope they have left himself some wiggle room so that they can compete with other companies who provide the same or similar product at a cheaper cost. My advice would be to Shop around. I’m sure you could save yourself $50 and walk away with the same quality and functionality.

What I like:- Nice sized set- Aesthetically pleasingWhat I don't like- To heavy for hiking, to flimsy for base camp- Too hot to handle when pouring coffee straight off the fire- Some rough finish areas- Not dishwasher safeI've several Sea to Summit products in my camping gear and so I was excited to add this dinnerware set to replace our battered bowls and plates. Even before unpacking I was surprised by the weight, close to two pounds is a lot for two bowls, two plates, and two cups especially when they aren't solid.Aesthetically this is a very pretty set. The plates are solid stainless steel and feel built to last. The bowls have steel bases and lips, but extend with silicone middles, be careful not to use a fork or sharp knife in them by mistake when eating stew. The ribbed design on the mugs gives a solid grip, especially as the top is reinforced with a stainless steel band. The silicone continues up over this band to ensure that hot beverages don't burn your lips, but here I found an immediate snag. The expanding wall of the mug transfers heat really well, so a hot beverage will burn your fingers and there isn't a handle. No chance to enjoy the steam from the boiling hot coffee fresh off the fire with these tumblers, although they work brilliantly with cooler beverages. Some of the silicone join lines were a bit rough and uneven. I've included a photo of one of the bowls showing an uneven silicone join that was loose and flapped a little out the box. This kind of join failure makes me wonder how well the collapsible sections will hold up over time. One final complaint is that the set is not dishwasher safe, so even when you have returned from your adventures there is no quick and easy way to escape doing the dishes. This also deters me from using them as poolside dishes at home.As I noted in my breakdown at the start, they are too heavy for the trail and not quite rugged enough for base camp. Not suitable for every day, but nice to look at. I'm definitely going to keep them in my kit for car camping and glamping, they'll look perfect on a rustic table outside a tiny home or yurt. A does what it says, but still disappointing 3 out of 5 stars.

This is a very nice and heavy duty set of dinnerware. The bottoms are stainless steel, so they add quite a bit of weight to them. These would be more suitable for camping where you are stationary rather than hiking. We got these to replace a cheap set of cups, plates, and bowls that we've had for awhile. We really like this set because they collapse down and take up less room in our camping tote. They are of really good quality and should last a long time.
