Couldn't wait to drive some T-posts with this driver. Unfortunately, my Makita rotary hammer and this driver just wouldn't drive the post into my hard Southern California ground which is mostly compacted DG. I even sharpened the end of the post with a grinder so it would cut better into the dirt. No chance. I ended up using my manual T-post driver. It appears to be a well-made product though.

I've put in countless T-posts with the double-handed slide hammer and while it does get the job done, this is so much easier. You just slip your SDS on hammer mode and push the magic button. Now it still isn't going to do anything if you hit a big rock or a tree root, but for normal dirt it works great. Now, just for clarity I don't actually use an SDS drill, I use an SDS Max drill with an adapter. A regular SDS should still work well, but probably not quite as fast. Note that the plastic retainer piece is kind of flimsy and finicky. I wouldn't trust it to hold much weight, and I'll probably try and pick up some of the little metal clips that work the same as these.

This is a nice Post Driver which will be very useful in the near future. It is thick walled and sturdy. It is designed for SDS Max tools so make sure that this is the size that fits your tool. It makes short work on driving posts in the ground. There is a smaller diameter attachment available for driving ground rods and this tool is designed for driving wider diameter posts in the ground

The weight of this item immediately makes you think quality. The opening size was larger than I expected which was awesome. My intention was to use this to drive metal T posts and by the descriptions and pictures I was unable to tell if it was going to work for standard size posts or not. It not only fits them, there’s ample room left so it would work for slightly larger posts as well. The hammer drill does all the work but this will transfer the power right where it’s needed to safely and quickly drive posts in the ground. I wish I would have had this years earlier.

PROS: Heavy duty thick walled deep enough and wide enough post driver to fit most applications, not too long so will fit into tighter spaces than smoothers. Appears robust enough to stand up to some serious abuse for a considerable period, time will tell. CONS: Not real hard with makes it more durable, but also more prone to dingin, scratching and marring overtime. Only fits "SDS MAX" drivers so keep that in mind, won't fit on SDS or SDS Plus without and adapter. Overall good value for a time saving post hammer. Enjoy!
