We had to replace an existing post and mailbox from the same manufacturer. We had just over 10 years with success except for the magnet rusting as well as the mounting bolts. A mishap occurred from street resurfacing where their tractor caught our mailbox as he drove past and bent the aluminum mounting frame on the post just enough to crack the bolt structure, cracking the paint and changing the mailbox angle. I had ordered a new mailbox from the same manufacturer but a different style with a more satisfactory magnetic latch and now needed to replace our post. We wanted the mounting drill holes to match so needed to find a post from the same manufacturer to match our new mailbox. I found this post on Amazon for a slight reduction in price to competitors and in a color that would compliment our landscape. Salsbury Industries products are top notch and very affordable. We are pleased and assembly and mounting were easy enough. We installed using a post hole digger and landscaping stones for a secure mount, and yes, the post mount does sit parallel to the street with the mailbox facing the street. Highly recommend.

Very sturdy, well made. It was easy to assemble. You will definitely need two people when it's time to put it in the ground.

I looked for a while to find a quality and reasonably priced mailbox. We are in a townhome, so we have to match, in style and color, what everyone else has. This was the one that meet all my conditions. I really liked that the base is metal, so weedwackers will not chip away paint and require us to repaint year after year. It is really nice and sturdy. Husband said it went together well. Looks really nice after install. I did find it just a few dollars cheaper elsewhere, but I like that it would come right to my house; versus having to go get it (pandemic) and that Amazon stands behind their products rather than having to go back to where I bought it and/or have to deal directly with the manufacturer. It was packaged well and arrived in perfect condition. Would highly recommend.

Bought this box and post a while back. Just got around to putting it in this week. Very well built, solid and precise, and once the hole was dug, easily installed and went together nicely. Hoping, and it looks like it can, survive the snow plows this winter.

Very elegant, high quality look and feel. Heavy aluminum square tubing on post and arms. Heavy-duty screws and bolts. Nice quality satin black finish.I used a Gibraltar Ironside mailbox on an adapter plate and it looks great.Went together in less than 1/2 hour.Highly recommended!

This is a solid mailbox post, it looks fantastic, and I expect it to last for many many years. It is designed to mount the mailbox "side-ways" and not "forward." To mount the mailbox facing forward (along the direction of the mailbox arm), you'll need to modify the mailbox (not the post) by drilling additional holes in the bottom of your mailbox. This is what I ended up doing to meet HOA requirements. The difficulty of this depends on what your mailbox is made out of and how competent you are with drilling/measuring. Mounting the mailbox facing "forward" is definitely doable, but it requires additional effort.

Quality of this post was great but disappointed. The description did not clearly state or show that the post/ coordinating mailbox can only be mounted sideways and to have the mailbox face the street the arm of the post must be perpendicular to it and not parallel like a normal mailbox setup. Didn't want to deal with the hassle of returning such a large item but I am disappointed. I'm trying to be happy with it.
