Your cart is empty. The original dark launched the fine line of Rover ligatures in 1974, and introduced an innovative approach to ligature design. It is especially enjoyed by the classical player, and despite many imitators, continues to be our best-seller. For decades It has also been the "go-to" Ligature for music educators, knowing they can recommend it with complete confidence that a Rover ligature is just the thing to help developing players move to the next level of performance.

I bought this to fit my hard rubber s6 v16 and it fits. Could be a little bigger but it works. Also, might just be placebo but, it makes my mp feel more responsive. Take that with a grain of salt, I'm a beginner to the saxophone.

I have this Rovner ligature on all my saxes and it works every time. I have a million ligatures and most of them don't fit perfectly on any mouthpiece - unless it's the ligature that was made for that mouthpiece.I had to get this one to fit a custom mp from Soprano Planet and for the one day I played before my horn broke, I sounded like a god.

I have bought Rovner ligatures before and they are awesome. This one though is almost too small. It barely fits to fasten. I do not know if it is a fluke the one that I got or what. This all said, I do recommend the Rovner ligatures for your reed horns.

In a rare sober moment, one of my jazz friends recommended this ligature for my Yamaha 4C mouthpiece. I have never been a fan of leather or rubber clamps but this one I like. In my experience, I usually run out of threads before the device runs out of stretch. No so with this Rovner. It actually looks like it was designed to hold a reed on a mouthpiece. Remarkable! I like the way it fits the mouthpiece and how easy it is to position the reed. I like that I feel the vibrations in the horn and not on my teeth. I like that it only cost me about twenty bucks. I highly recommend this ligature.

I'm not a gear addict, and when the cheap ligature that came with my soprano saxophone broke, I didn't expect to hear much difference by replacing it with this. I am amazed. I'm convinced it really did both make the horn easier to play (notes are easier to play in tune) and also reduce the brightness of the tone even though I continued using the same reed. I use it with a Yahama 4C mouthpiece and a Vandoren 2.5 (SR2025) reed on a 1988 Jupiter straight-neck soprano. Be careful to read the instructions: the ligature comes configured to be used in an "inverted" position, with the screw on top of the mouthpiece. I use it this way and am very happy with it. The ligature smelled awful at first, but that passed after the first week or so out of the box.

I use a Vandoren S8 V16 soprano mouthpiece and this ligature just barely fits. The ends just barely fit over the reed, and the screw actually touches and pushes down on the reed, more than the ends which are supposed to be holding it down. And this is using a thin heeled reed. I can't even use a V21 reed because it's too thick to fit under this ligature. Other than my regret at it's small size, it plays reasonably well and with similar tone and ease of use as my other Rovner ligatures. I use them on my Alto and on my Clarinet as well, and the one screw system makes it easy to swap reeds, and they don't slide up the mouth piece like some metal ligs.

Rovner simply makes great ligatures. However, don't believe the hype about how it will "color" your sound. It wont. Its just a ligature. It keeps the reed on the mouthpiece. It does not amplify, texture, darken, lighten, project, warm, mellow, sharpen, blunt, penetrate, or otherwise modify your tone. A $200 platinum ligature will not add "elegance" to your sound any more than a diamond studded ligature will encourage "transparency". A good ligature just keeps the reed in place on the mouthpiece, and this Rovner design does the job reliably, simply, easily, and well. It will not slip, dig in to your reeds or gouge your mouthpiece and that is enough for me. The rest is hype. I have used shoelaces, velcro strips, rubber bands, hose clamps, O rings, vinyl tape, twist ties, nylon cable ties, pantyhose and penis rings as ligatures without any discernible difference in sound. Its all in the mind of the beholder. In my experience Rovner ligatures last a long time and they are more convenient than most of the aforementioned devices. (Although maybe not as much fun).

This ligature is great for the price. High quality materials and very fast shipping. It goes great with my mouthpiece and produces the exact tone I wanted. The control you get is great too.
