As a budget hobby/indy field recordist, I've been getting some decent gear together, looking for the best bang for the buck. I tried some inexpensive shock mounts for my shotgun mics, and also thought about DIYing something... but at the end of the day, I thought it best to have something that will be durable and dependable... and this is definitely it. Everything is well made, and everything on it works well. The lyre suspensions are the industry-recognized ones made by Rycote. My only quibble with this unit is that it's not currently set up to slide into a zeppelin. There may be some additional hardware or mods possible to use the blimps with this holder.

Just received my item today and I’ll say it seems to be a great product! Definitely feels sturdy, I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet but I was disappointed to find out this may be used? Looks like there’s some handwriting on it and some dirt. Honestly it’s just a handle so I’m not too worried about it but figured I’d give you a heads up and show you the photos. Can’t wait to try this out thanks for the product!

I bought this as an Amazon Warehouse deal. In itself it's a very well-made and well-designed grip but for the amount I use it (rarely) the full price is quite steep so I was happy to have a re-packaged, slightly used one for a big discount. The three stars here are for the fact that the screw thread has been set too deep into the plastic grip, meaning that even my Road boom pole won't 'bite' on the thread and rendering it useless for anything other than holding like a pistol.Unfortunately I didn't notice this until my return window had passed so I have modified it by cutting out the plastic around the 3/8' thread so that it can mount on a stand or boom pole. Not very elegant but at least it's now useable. Lesson learned - there is a reason things are returned to Amazon and re-sold in the Warehouse Deals section. Check, check and check again when it arrives!

I was hoping for a better quality, but the Rycott shock absorbers are really bad. My NTG4+ is a typical mic for this grip and it should have no problem holding it, but the Rycott holders tend to bend and deform after a day of use...

This thing rocks. Extremely well built, easy to operate and use. Great mounting system for microphones and provides so many options for use (Boom Pole, Hand Held, etc.) as well provides options for cable routing.
