Radio comes with a cord to plug into an electrical socket BUT the prong part at the end of it does not go into the United States version of electrical outlets in your home. Radio can be charged via solar power but if it's a cloudy day, it won't. Does come with its own special batteries. I've used the charged up radio for 6-8 hours or less, at times, and it starts to distort because of the charge going out of it.

It seems to be well made. All the markings are large contrasting colors and easy to read. Tuning is easy with large knobs. The scale seems off but it gets there. No AM. Don’t understand that and short wave only works with an inexpensive SW radio antenna. Speaker is “tinny” and treble is loud. Has multiple power and playback options. Even a solar panel. It’s a little fragile but nothing affects its usefulness as an emergency radio. Good price. I like it.

Description says this will last 40 hours on a charge. It did the first time, but the second charge doesn't hold a charge more than an hour. It's a nice concept, but I'm going back to ones with a cord.

How the heck can so much radio be purchased and arrive shipped to my door in just a few days for under $12. Really I am amazed that so much can be had for so little. The only possible niggle, and it is shown right on page one, that it comes with an unfamiliar, European, AC wall plug. But this is truly nothing to worry about. You are not limited to using AC power. In any case, a proper AC plug to replace it is probably kicking around your house anyway. Or, you can search Amazon for "Slim Power Supply Cable Replacement" and you will find a bunch for $5-$10. Or just pay a buck at any thrift store. But you really, you do not need it anyway. My radio powered up just fine using a standard micro USB (not included) plugged into the 5v DC input port on the side. The micro USB is a cable common to nearly every cell phone and charges this radio too. So you really can use radio from day one with no problem. Or charge using the Solar Panel if all else fails. Be happy. Very happy and toss the included cord away without worry. This is absolutely no reason to pass this radio up. This radio is almost too good to be true.Behind the battery door is a replaceable 18650 battery and that is where you will find the European power cord and also, you can store a proper US AC cord, if you get one. But even better, this is also the place to drop in 2 D Cell batteries that can also power this radio. Wow.But we have only started. It has a large Solar Panel. Not sure how well this works but it is again a wonder at how much and what we can get in one radio. It has a "Torch" a common term for flashlight in Britain. And it that has two brightness levels. Both are pleasing and useful a light source if ever needed. It has a workable, functional fully OK AM and FM band radio. Worked fine for my local stations no problem. Did not even try SW, shortwave as at the time of this writing apparently a cosmic solar storm is wracking our planet so I just plugged in USB and TF SD Flash cards to play comforting music. In any case, the mp3 player function works just fine. And the large front firing speaker sounds just fine too. How again, I ask myself, did I get so much for so little. But I will not stop here. It has Bluetooth function for sound play from computer or phone. Wow. Really? Yes.Yes, Yes, Yes and Yes....to quote "When Harry Met Sally"....(Look it up to see what I mean.)Anyway, get this radio. When your friends see it they too will say..."I'll have what she's having".In any case, this would be a fine Christmas gift for anybody. I would have been delighted, appreciative and grateful to get this when I was 7 years old....almost as much as I was today when I got it at age 70. I guess you are never to old or too young to be happy.
