This product is worth the purchase. The versatility, of it is amazing. Its has a very sturdy feel to it. Its light weight, but not to light weight, which i like, so I can still get some good swings on some logs and chop through precisely. Any lighter, I feel it would lose that ability. The bag it comes in is compact, able to fit nicely in any backpack. The only downfall I have found is the compass. It doesn't work at all. The location of north keeps changing while standing still. I know I am in Alaska, but I am still miles from the arctic center, so the compass should still work. But other than that, a well rounded product, with many uses.

I have had bad experiences with spears before, as the tips often break off. This spear however, is very thick. It doesn't allow for the best penetration, but it is very sturdy. I have some tough bags stuffed with shrink wrap to throw them into, but when I missed and hit wood, the spear held up very well. I have been throwing this into wood for a while now, and there are no dings, scratches, rolls, chips, or anything else. The only bad things about this is that the sheath clip doesn't stay clipped, but that's not such a huge deal. Also, it is a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. Junk on MTech for a few bucks equals crap, but more money equals a good sturdy spear. I definitely recommend this.

Got this spear to throw at a block of wood. Good weight, sturdy, good length, so far has yet to break, despite being thrown at a large chunk of wood, many times, many times badly. Despite the weight of the spear, the tip has yet to snap. It looked like it would, given how pointy it is. My throwing knives have broken with thicker points. but the tip is actually quite thick (tapering into a point ofc), so it can support the weight of the entire spear. Can't recommend it enough for throwing.

I was not sure what to expect but WOW!!. . This is the most amazing spear I have found. The durability and good quality metal puts it over the top. I have had a lot of throwing blades but this tops them all. First couple of throws were off, the third stuck right in to the stump I was throwing it at. Love the length, could be a bit longer but over all i'm very happy with the spear. Well done.

Good pokie stick for mountain lions and wild dogs or anything else you may encounter. Better than a stick but might just piss off a bear unless you aim real good. Seems well made and uses a decent 2Cr-13 steel. Nice weight and easy to throw for fun. Maybe too short for spear fishing but I will still give it a try. For those who complain about the edge sharpness, it's a spear not a Ginsu knife. It's designed for thrust and penetration not slicing tomatoes or peeling potatoes! Yes you can put a sharp edge on it but why? Use it for what it is designed for and it will do well. Thickness of blade adds to it's sturdiness and the shaft material is similar to the stuff Cold Steel uses if not the same. Useful and fun, and not a toy.

Some people keep a baseball bat in the bedroom, behind the door.... this can easily be a 'very upgraded' baseball bat.It is VERY sharp and double edged. The sheathe is great, and needed for when not being 'used'.It is better than I expected... very happy.

This is a good four foot throwing spear with a heavy duty blade on it. It could be used for close range self defense but the short length makes it somewhat less desirable. I'd prefer at least five feet for close range, but this is definitely better than nothing. Weight and balance is great for throwing but some people who are not very athletic may find the blade a bit heavy- I have read reviews saying as much, but the weight is good for me.My main purpose for this is I'd like to have a spear when going out on a kayak in case a shark or gator gets aggressive with me at least I'd have some kind of weapon. The problem with using this spear on the water is it short for the purpose of stabbing and if I throw it I'm out $70 (and there's a good chance I could miss). So I ordered a six foot spear as well. But I'd like to see an option to buy some cheap throwing spears that are cheap enough you don't have to worry about losing them. Maybe get five of them for $50 or something, have small blades at the end instead of the heavy duty blade. Would be something good to add to the collection but I haven't seen anybody selling those (other than some affordable arrow heads but you have to make the spear yourself). Some four foot spears like this with a small cheap blade at the end sold in a bundle for using once or twice. I guess at that point I might as well get a bow and arrow or something but the spear is way easier to use quickly in a tight space and more fun to toss around.

This thing is extremely durable. It has been thrown into a tree approximately 60 times and still is great. Actually, I have bought two of these and they are both holding up very well. I would recommend for anyone that has someone in their life that likes throwing spears or just to have them hang on the wall. The pictures that I posted are after being thrown quite a few times into hard trees. You can see that it still looks great and is quite durable.A year and two months later is the last photo. This has been extremely durable and thrown hundreds of times !!! Would recommend over and over. I have one son that is a martial art guru and one that is avid marksman and knife/spear thrower. These have been put to the test and passed with flying colors!! They won’t break easy and are got for hunting or just throwing. Never regretted either spear I bought.
