It does not compare to my grandfather's industrial 1950's vintage paper cutter, but it holds its own. This papercutter is a serious item and has the weight to slice through several thick papers at once. Be careful: this item could easily chop off fingers.

This 10" x 13" Texalan paper cutter did not come with any instructions so I did have to consult the product page, but it is also pretty intuitive. It comes with anti-skid rubber things that slide in underneath the cutter to keep it from sliding on the table (you get 4 of them plus an extra) and a handle that just slides on the end of the blade.I like that this paper cutter doesn't have a separate blade that I will have to buy replacements for. I wasn't sure how I would effectively sharpen the upper and lower blades because they are not at an angle like a knife, but I saw online that a common trick is to cut sheets of aluminum foil until the blades are sharp again. The upper blade locks easily by slipping its notch over a little knob, making it even less likely to result in accidental injury. This paper cutter is compact yet well made, with the markings etched into the metal base and filled with white ink instead of just being printed on. Because there is no use and care manual, I have taken some of the maintenance instructions from the product page and written them on an index card and then taped that card to the underside of the paper cutter's base so I will always have them at hand.

Why, oh why, do school photos not come precut anymore? Between having to manually cut those and my daughter's art projects, I dreamed of having a home version of the big paper cutters that are standard at every office. This cutter is well-priced and in my testing did get the job done, but the base is very light and the clamp to secure papers was difficult to use. I ended up just taking it off. I wouldn't use it for more than 1-2 papers at a time, but it meets my needs.

This guillotine cutter is decent for light use, but it didn’t really meet my expectations. It feels a little flimsy overall, and while it works, I don’t feel confident relying on it for anything more than occasional cuts. The base has some sturdiness to it, but mine arrived slightly warped, which throws things off a bit. The press arm has a tendency to shift inward while cutting, which can misalign the paper, especially when working with multiple sheets.

This is a fantastic product. It's precision cutting surface helps to align your product (whatever you're cutting), perfectly. It's very sturdy, and unfortunately I took the photo before I installed the handle and used it. But I can attest to the ease of use.I'm very happy with this product.

Not all that impressed with this guillotine cutter, even at the current pricepoint. It's all just a bit too cheaply produced and though it does the job I sure don't feel confident while using it.The base feels reasonably sturdy, but is noticeably warped. The press arm always wants to creep inward when actuating the cutting arm which always has me worried it will alter the positioning of the paper to be cut, especially when cutting more than one sheet at a time. The line guides are accurate but lack granularity in the imperials. The guide rule only works to about 7¾" before taking a weird angle, making it ill-suited for assisting with common sizes like letter/legal. The cutting edge is built into the arm itself rather than being a removable screw-on to better facilitate maintenance down the road.Cuts well right now, handling up to about 10 "heavy duty" index cards before beginning to struggle. As a light-duty unit it's probably fine, but not one I would want to rely on for even semi-regular use.

This paper cutter is a smaller version of the ones you may find in printing and copying stores. The size makes it very convent to store. It is well designed, especially the bracket that automatically holds the paper flat and in place while you cut. I have used it to cut five pages of fairly heavy paper, which it did without "breaking a sweat".The blade itself doesn't seem ridiculously sharp--safer for clumsy folks like me--but still works well. I think the basic design is that the cut is made by the blade and edge of the base coming together. One issue I noticed right out of the box was that the cutter was slightly warped. I have tried to manually bend the base and am currently storing it under some heavy books. I have actually seen improvement doing those things.

This precision paper cutter is such great quality. I really like that it has an easy locking mechanism where you just move the handle and attach it to the lock in a quick movement. The handle is comfortable and easy to use. The base of the paper cutter has a measuring guide to help you with precise cuts. It also includes a removable guiding ruler that you can adjust to your prefered paper size. It's such a great size, light weight, and perfect for cutting all types of paper.
