I purchased this thermometer for making my maple syrup (after I dropped a digital meat thermometer into the sap, ruining it). Overall, this one is working very well. Accuracy is good (stepped in .2 degrees F in my case). It is relatively quick to reach temperatures. I bought a 30mm long version to reach down into my tall boiling pot. It comes with a nice certificate of calibration. The numbers are large and fairly easy to read.Suggested improvements to get that 5th star?... The MIN/MAX button does nothing in my case. The limited instructions do not even mention it. It would be great if I could set MAX, for an audible beep when reaching desired temperature. A clip to attach the stem to the rim of a pot would be a bonus.

I had this in my lab for about four months with low use and it no longer turns on. I bought another four that seem to be working, but 20% failure rate isn't great. Update: I lost another one about two years after purchase. So 3/5 still work.

I bought this thermometer for brewing beer. I needed a long thermometer to use during the mash and cooling after the regular kitchen thermometer I was using quit working. The digits are a little small but that's to be expected for a lollypop thermometer. I was surprised to see that it came with a calibration certificate from an ISO17025 accredited lab. I'm in that industry and that is an attestation to the quality of the data provided on the certificate. I decided to check it against a couple of temperature references I have and it read as accurate as the manufacturer's certificate stated.
