I have a project that needed especially long clamps, so I bought these inexpensive ones. They are not sturdy and the clamping surfaces are rock hard, so no give if the clamp is not on a straight surface. They do work but are clearly not going to hold up. Next time I’ll spend more money for better clamps that will do a better job and hold up. Since buying them I watched a yet review that showed that this brand could not generate much clamping pressure. Also difficult to switch them to spreading clamps, but they were cheap

JULY 2023 UPDATE:I have tried to be optimistic, but I cannot find a single good thing to say about these clamps. I was not impressed from the start with these clamps, but I tried to give them a chance. They let me down big time!(You can read my original review below)At $18.56 each, one would think the clamps would squeeze tighter than a human could with their unassisted hand, but you'd be wrong with these clamps. I didn't take the time to test the grip strength of them, but I'd be really shocked if they go above 5 pounds. They are so weak and cheaply made that it's an insult. If you convert these to the 'spreader' function, I'm pretty certain you'd be unable to open an envelope with these pieces of junk; that's how worthless they are.I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER 'POWERTEC' ITEM IN MY LIFETIME! I'll go the extra five or ten dollars and get a product that I can use.Seriously, I'm not that difficult to please, but I feel obligated to warn you all that if you buy these clamps, you're going to either be disappointed in their performance or you might get lucky and they'd get lost in shipping. WORTHLESS. VERY, VERY WEAK CLAMPING STRENGTHI used these two days in a row and am VERY disappointed in the clamping torque - it's disgusting. My old clamps would really draw together with their clamping strength, being limited basically to the user and how strong they could squeeze the clamp handle. These don't even give a good squeeze! (I broke the reversible end 'jaw' on my old one because it drew so tight - these will never do that - their weaker clamping torque will make sure of that.)I'm not going to try out the spreader setup, don't need to subject myself to that aggravation. At $20 a unit for a 36" clamp, I feel they aren't even worth that.I originally thought these would be fine for most people, but now I have serious doubts about that.I'll NOT be keeping these - will sell them for pennies on the dollar locally. I don't have a box large enough to send these back or I would.I will NEVER buy this brand again in the future.IN A NUT SHELL:If you need basic, 'normal' use clamps that will give a firm grip and hold, use a few rubber bands or get some ratchet straps - these clamps are worthless IMO.

I like their products but last night, one of the clamps broke. I have contacted the company to see if they will replace the broken part.

This was a gift for my son's birthday - didn't have a lot of details about it but searched Amazon (my daughter-in-law sent the request list) and I came upon it. Turns out it was exactly what he wanted! Thanks!

I was hoping to spread a gap in fencing, but at the max length (40+ inches) clamp bar was not sturdy enough. Clamping seems to be a better use for this item.
