The price is good on this, but it is pretty small. I would not be looking to do a big pot of potatoes with this- maybe a small one or avocados for guac. The end is about the size of 1 smallish red potato. I did get it more for guac and smaller things, we use the hand blender or KA mixer for larger pots of potatoes. The handle is very thin, and super smooth. There's no ridges or anything for hand comfort or to keep your hand from sliding. It would be more comfortable with a thicker handle, in my opinion. For $7 I think 4 stars if you're looking for a smaller masher. If the price were to go up too much I'd suggest looking at other options, especially if you want a bigger one.

This masher is touted as being for mashing everything from potatoes to avocados to beans, but it's strong enough to tackle just about anything. I've used it in my mortar to combine ingredients for my traditional Thai recipes. The issue with most mashing kinds of kitchen tools is often times the food is quite slippery and it's no fun and a waste of energy to chase stuff trying to escape the masher. Bigger mashers typically help with this issue. So, bear in mind the head of this one is on the smaller side. Everything is a compromise and bigger mashers have their issues, too. I'm going to try is using a Rubbermaid container of about the same diameter to hold the food in place in hopes that it will help hasten the mashing process. The masher is very sturdy and made from sufficiently thick steel that will not easily bend. I'm a serious home cook who likes to create and experiment, so any time I find a gadget that will fill a need then I'm all for it. This one qualifies and I do recommend this masher.

This is hands down the best potato masher I've ever used! I mashed potatoes and they came out smooth, no lumps. The handle is long enough to where you can use both hands if needed. Very strong and sturdy and the price is completely worth it. I highly recommend!

I think this is a pretty nice potato masher. Over the years I have used a number of different styles of mashers and I think this style is one of the best for getting really smooth potatoes with no lumps. This masher is a one piece design so it will probably be a tight fit in many drawers. It does have a hole in the handle for hanging and that might be the best option for storage if you can do that.As far as mashing potatoes goes, I think that it works very well. The handle isn’t too big and it doesn’t have any grip coating over it but it works perfectly for me. I have no issues gripping it while mashing potatoes. I do one full pass and make sure all the pieces of potato have been passed through the masher one and then I just go over them once or two more times just to get them extra smooth. After that I add my other ingredients and just mix them in by hand. It doesn’t take much time to have really smooth, lump free mashed potatoes.I’m really pleased with this masher. I think it’s a good quality item and a very good value. I recommend it.

This masher is a joy to work with. It arrived the day it happened to be making red potatoes for mashed potatoes. Heavy duty stainless steel with good connections and a long handle and weighted at the end. Beats the old standard measure that used to have a plastic handle attached to stainless steel masher. Taller, so you don't have to worry about your hand hitting the food while you mash. Makes noodle like patterns which is fun to watch as you mash. Reminds me of a Cheeto. Cut through my red potatoes with ease and only took a few minutes to get the consistency I wanted, which is semi chunky for red potatoes. I mased over two pounds of red potatoes with ease. This is a easy to use, easy to clean potato masher that will stand the test of time. I can't wait to use it for other projects such as avocados and sweet potatoes as it says it could be used for root vegetables, even carrots, it's that tough and easy. I had no wrist or arm fatigue after using this I felt like I had more leverage. No plastic parts, dishwasher safe for added sterilization. A must have for the kitchen.

Good mashing! Pretty much what you'd expect from a piece of metal meeting a boiled potato. If you prefer the labor of manual mashing, this is a good choice of masher.Note: make sure you are mashing straight down and not at an angle. This piece isn't easy to bend but, anything over a right angle with enough pressure will bend the joint a bit.

This is a very nice quality potato masher. Recently, I was watching YouTube and saw a video of someone making smashed, cheesy potato cakes, and these looked delicious. They used a glass cup to smash their potatoes. It worked well, but I have always thought the right tool for the job makes the job easier. I wanted to make these smashed potatoes and when I saw this potato smasher, I ordered it. This masher is made of high quality stainless steel. It seems durable and functional, and I feel it was good value for the money and it makes making these little cheese potato cakes a breeze. I am very pleased with this order and I am glad to have the right tool for the job.
