Pool water quality tester are calibrated at the factory so you can use them straight away. You only need to calibrate the pH if you don't use it for a long time, salinity doesn't need to be calibrated. When you turn on the product, the parameters will jump, this is normal as the water quality pen will automatically calibrate and stabilize when you insert it into the water.

I returned mine. The salt reading was incorrect by 300 PPM. There was some verbiage about calibrating for salt. If you could understand what they wanted me to use, you're much better than me!

Works perfectly been using it the last couple of weeks and it’s been accurate. Like the different functions and the big screen.

This Tudoupeng Water Tester can give you useful information about the water in your house and in your pool. However, you need to understand the steps involved in fully calibrating this unit to achieve the most accurate readings. I have attached three pictures to this review, and you should look at them. Correct calibration of this unit requires preparing three jars/vials/containers for the three ph Buffer packets that are packaged with this unit. The instructions on the back of the buffer packets suggest that you place contents of the packet in 8.4 ounces of distilled water and then label the jar with the buffer powder strength (4.00, 6.86 or 9.18). You will need these three buffer strength jars to correctly calibrate the tester. The instructions also state that you should keep these three jars available for future re-calibration of the tester. I will eventually do this with three Mason pint jars as I do want to use this tester to its fullest.I did do some “relative” readings just to see how well the tester could work. I have a water distiller made by H2O labs, which we have used for years. I tested two cups of tap water and distilled water, so see what the differences would be. But first, some clarification needs to be made. “TDS” stands for Total Dissolved Solids”, which I had to look up separately on the internet as this acronym is not defined anywhere in the Operation Manual or in the Amazon web page for this product. “EC” stands for Electrical Conductivity, and I had to look this up separately as well. When I tested hot tap water, I had the following readings: PPM – 400 (this is TDS); mS/CM was 801 (this is EC) and the PH was 7.32. According to the sixth sales page for this product at the Amazon web site, our tap water is “Highly contaminated, not recommended for drinking” which is why we distill all of our drinking and cooking water. When I tested a cup of our distilled water, I obtained these readings: PPM - 0, mS/CM -0.1 and the PH was 6.46. So this tester confirmed that my water distiller was doing a good job of providing us with clean water. The PH reading on distilled water should be higher that our tap water, however for as bad as our tap water is, it may be a correct relative reading. At a later time, I will get three Mason pint jars, label them and make up the testing solutions so that I can fully calibrate this tester.I give this unit four stars as this tester does indeed test the water and the testing steps are straight forward. The three buttons on the tester respond to minimal pressure and easily step through the various tests. They lost the last star because of the minimal information that is provided to you with this tester. You will need a magnifying glass to read the instruction manual. I could not find a supporting web site for this company or this product. You will want/need to refer to the information at the Amazon web site when you are first learning how to use this tester.

This is a very good quality water tester. The green digital display is easy to read with backlight. I was using this device to test my reverse osmosis water filter and it worked well. The test was done very quickly within a few seconds. The device is compact, in a shape of a pen, and came with three tiny batteries already installed. I am happy with the performance of this product and I highly recommend it.
