My Ooni Koda 12 arrived a week ago, and I've made dismal pizzas. I followed directions, and my pizza was either raw or burned to a crisp. The problem was simply the weather - it was very breezy. The Ooni Koda has a small opening in the front, and a lot of openings in the back to let it heat to amazing temperatures - that is, if there isn't a breeze. This simple door fixed my heating problem. Yes - it was gusty, but that's normal here in the rainforest this time of year. My wind chimes were making nice tones, but the flame kept going out. This door, which is a simple friction fit, with a threaded rivet and nice handle which went together in moments, solved all my temperature variations. It works. It's simple, it's easy to put together, it looks nice on the oven, it fits perfectly, and I have a great pizza!

I’m actually using this as a partial door on a Gozney S1 pizza oven, to allow the oven to heat faster while still allowing airflow. It works great. The S1 is much larger than an Ooni. I did replace the black handle (silicone I think) with a larger silicone as it gets very hot. The metal part of this product is nicely made.

So, I love my Ooni pizza oven but in the cooler months, there is a pretty severe temperature gradient between the front and rear of the oven, leading to uneven cooking and sometimes burned pizza. My previous solution had been to cover the opening of the oven with my pizza peel but that required some gymnastics on my part with two metal peels as I would turn the pizza with one hand and then quickly cover the opening with a peel in my other hand and while that works while cooking, it does nothing when heating the oven up initially or between pizzas. I often wondered why Ooni doesn't offer a door for the oven and so when this popped up on my Amazon feed, I jumped on it. It arrived yesterday, and I was initially pretty impressed. The metal work is first rate: all stainless steel and every cut, bend, and hole was cut perfectly. It arrives in two pieces: the shield and a handle and to assemble you screw it together - simple. Except... the shield has a threaded stud welded to it and the handle has a threaded hole (actually a press-in nut) into which the stud screws in. The problem is in the handle. The press-in threaded insert was fully installed but came loose as soon as I tried to tighten the handle. For all of the care that went into making this shield, using a press-in nut instead of welding it to the handle is a mystery. So, basically dead on arrival. One or two simple tack welds would have made this perfect. Too bad. I thought about returning it, but a replacement would have the same problem. So, I broke out my welder and did the job properly. Most people shopping for this won't have that option, so that is what I am basing my rating on.

This fits my Ooni Fyra 12 perfectly and has really helped speed up my preheat time while boosting the temperature between pies. If you're interested in pizza ovens but find them overpriced like I did, it's worth noting that this basic device costs nearly as much as a full oven! I'd recommend checking marketplaces for a used Ooni Fyra 12. I was so happy when this door fit my oven. It seems like average quality overall, but my biggest issue is that the price feels too high for such a basic design.
