The quality is great but there are no instructions with it. It is true that there are no mounting screws to attach the shelf to the wall but there are two screws to attach the shelf to the shelf supports that attach to the wall. The two wood mounting shelf support pieces use a French style angled bevel that is directly reverse of the one on the shelf so that it supports it on the wall and two screws that go through the shelf, angled shelf bevel and bite into the angled bevel of the shelf supports. I installed the angled beveled shelf support backwards the first time without thinking as I was focused on everything being level and in the center of the wall. I spent a very long time removing the shelf supports from the wall studs that I had nailed them into with my own nails and tore up the wall doing it using a pry bar so that I could rectify my mistake and put them in correctly. I also cracked and broke the end off the shelf support doing it. So it was necessary for me to find my wood glue and glue the shelf support back together which further compromises the support. I would give the quality a 5 but the fact that there are no instructions or shelf support wall mounting hardware caused me to drop the number in the review. This could have been done much better. I also had an issue lining up the shelf supports with the predrilled holes in the shelf because of the location of the studs in the wall and the necessity to position the shelf supports so that they could be mounted onto two studs. When I did that and centered the shelf on the wall, the predrilled holes missed the shelf support so I had to redrill new holes for the mounting screws which means that I needed a long drill bit at least 6 " long to go through the shelf and the angled bevel on the shelf and into the angled shelf support pieces. It would have been better if, instead of two small angled beveled shelf supports, they included one very long predrilled one with at least 4 corresponding mounting screws so that they could make contact with the wall studs and also match the predrilled holes in the shelf. I have made and installed a lot of shelves and I start off with a horizontal support piece that I center on the wall and mark on it where the studs are and where the drill holes need to be made. After all that and I ensure that it is level, then I make my measurement and line on wall. I mount one side of the support piece and keep a level on it. When level, I mount the other side and then add more screws for further support. This shelf is not supported that well actually.

This is absolutely beautiful can’t wait to install just a bit bummed it doesn’t include any hardware to mount or any instructions!

We think this mantel is beautiful! I appreciate the craftsmanship, and the fact that there was a white oak finish available. There are a few other white oak mantels anvailable online, but this one was far more affordable.My mantel also didn’t include mounting hardware or instructions, but installation was very straightforward. They utilize a French cleat mounting system, which was very easy to figure out. The company also reached out to let me know they were happy to send me the hardware and instructions if I needed them.Overall, I think this is a great mantel option. Quality craftsmanship, a variety of sizes/finishes, all at a reasonable price point!

Missing hardware and instructions. How difficult could it be to add a few screws and a sheet of paper?? Dropped a star because of this.Edit: changed to 5 stars. Reached out to company and they sent out the instructions and hardware. Thank you. Beautiful mantel.

We live in California, and sadly, new homes do not allow fireplaces. We bought a simulated fireplace and put this mantle above it. It’s the next best thing to a real fireplace (or as close as we could get). The grain is beautiful and it’s a really nice addition to our home. We are very happy we purchase this mantle! Well worth the money.

I love this. The look, the feel, the color…it is perfect for above a fireplace or just a shelf. The install was as expected. Finding a stud is never a convenient but given the size of the shelf we want to make sure we hung properly. The shelf is well made and is great quality. I would buy again.
