Adding a ton of chorine but pool still gets algea in a day or won't clear up? Your CYA may be too low. You need CYA to help protect your chorine from burning off by the sun. This is for all types of pools.Easy to use and multiple tests are able to be done with the amount they give you.

Testing cyanuric acid in your pool is more important than most pool owners realize. The level of cyanuric acid is critical. If it is too low chlorine can burn off in one afternoon leaving you without sanitation. If it is too high then the chlorine becomes stable, and won't oxidize organic matter and bacteria in the water, leaving you without sanitation. A lot of pool owners just throw stabilized tablets in the skimmer and call it a day. But that practice will raise the cyanuric acid to high levels (>100 ppm) and you can get algae blooms or - God help you - black algae. This test kit is very good at showing you the ideal, 25 ppm level you should get and hold in your pool. The smaller graduated cylinders used in the pool test kits aren't very sensitive at that level and may not be accurate.

easy to use and seems accurate. maintaining a good cya will lessen the amount of chlorine used up in your tub or pool. far more accurate than worthless strip tests

This worked great! We had just reopened our pool for the summer and I was curious if we needed to add stabilizer. Thankfully we didn’t have to.I have seen people asking how long this kit will last and based off of the bottle I would say you would get at least 10 tests out of it which is a lot since you don’t have to check stabilizer all the time. I will definitely get this again when needed.

Excellent product (Pentair Rainbow Cyanuric Acid Test Kit). With its generous long tube you can get good measurements between 20 ppm and 30 ppm - superior to some other kits which only start at 30 ppm. This is really useful if you are one of those pool users who wants to run with relatively low CYA and control it accurately. Also the moving stick design makes it like fun to use and gives a much better setup for measurement than you get with the "add reagent until the black spot vanishes" process. Instructions and packaging straightforward, no problems.Very that I got it ! ! ! Valuable contributor to my pool chemistry control.Adrian Pollock

Bottom line: This product works, saves time and money. A "must have" tool for every DIY pool owner. Easy to use...I recently purchased the Aquachek-7 test strip kit because it included Cyanuric Acid levels. The reading on the test strip was 300, same on the 2nd and 3rd try, which is extreme high. I took a water sample to my local pool supply and they tested the water with this product. Result was 50, which is highest within normal range. I decided to purchase the Pentair kit here on amazon which saved me a few dollars and was delivered quickly. My test results were 50 ppm as well. For anyone that maintains their own pool, uses pool shock, stabilizer or chlorine tabs with cyanuric acid, you must test for CYA levels. If your level is above 50 you need to lower it otherwise the chlorine will dissipate more quickly. With higher levels chlorine becomes less effective. If I had relied on the Aquachek strip read of 300, that meant I needed to practically drain-refill my pool entirely. We're in California with a current stage-4 water crisis so draining wasn't an option. There is a product called Bio-Active however at almost $50 per 8 oz bag it required approximately 4 bags. When the rainy season hits I'll do a few partial drains, let mother nature fill the pool. With this method my CYA level will eventually drop to 30 ppm. May take several months though. Also noted: I use approximately 20 ml of reagent per test. This 8 oz - 240 ml kit should yield 12 tests.

I needed a reliable test to figure out the cyanuric acid levels in my pool. Test strips that I had used in the past were OK for giving a ballpark value, but I really needed something that was more accurate. This test kit was perfect for that. The instructions are easy to follow. Basically, you are trying to look at a black dot on the plastic stick as you immerse it in the liquid in the tube, and when that black dot is not visible (based on the cloudiness of the solution), you can get a readout of the cyanuric level on the markings on the stick. I think there is enough chemicals in this test kit to run at least 10 tests, maybe even more.
