This door fits well in my patio door. The weight is manageable. My dogs use it fine.

In order for this to sit nicely in the screen door track I needed to attach a thin strip of metal to the bottom of the door. My screen door tracks are thick at the top but thin on the bottom and I wanted to be able to close my glass sliding doors without having to remove the dog door. I ended up ordering metal rulers from Amazon and drilled holes to match the holes already in place on the door to attach the extender that can be purchased separately.

Really wonderful idea. Either poor engineering design or extremely poor testing prior to full development. In order to extend the screen to fit various heights, there are screws with plastic levers. Flip the levers up, loosen the screw, adjust the height, tighten the screw, and flip the levers down. Unfortunately, the plastic lever is too bulky for the narrow width of the product frame to allow the screen to properly insert into the lip of the sliding door frame. If the manufacturer would make the frame of this product wider by 1-1.5 inches and keep the adjustment clips positioned close to the screen, it *should* allow for this product to properly insert into any sliding glass door frame.Due to this design failure, I cannot recommend this product for anyone with dogs over 15 pounds. Anyone with a smaller dog should use caution as the ill-fitting frame can cause the "doggy screen door" to fall out of the door frame and scare your pet.

I got a size large for my Samoyed and he fits through very well with one extension at the bottom. It is thin, but for the cheap price I kind of expected that. The weatherproof paneling is sold separately, which I didn’t realize, so until I get that or put in plexiglass I can’t use in the rain. Until I move into a more permanent location and buy a better quality door, this is going to do the trick perfectly.

I have to small poms and 1 is 5 lbs. The other is 15 lbs and neighbor could fit through the small size one I ordered it is very mis leading I would have needed the large one for small dogs. Plus it only had a screen. On hard plexiglass or nothing is useless in winter time. Was very disappointed in the details of the item. However it did fit smooth in my door but it's cold out and will have no use for it. Plus dogs won't fi through it.

This works well. It fits snuggly into place my cat was able to figure out how it worked after some repetitive coaching.I wish Amazon sold the weather panels for it though.

If I’m completely honest it’s probably a 3 out 5 star product in terms of quality. So why give it 5 star?? Because my balcony door is not a standard size. Apparently there are two standard sizes of patio doors that most of pet companies make and neither has the right height range. My balcony is 84 inches tall for reference. I was hesitant to get this because what I really wanted was one with the glass, but I searched high and low and unless I wanted to pay big bucks for a custom fitted one, the was virtually my only option. So I bought it along with some plexiglass and some weather proofing strips. The door has the grooves that plexiglass can slide in. The plexiglass came in a roll, and I cut it to size but it wouldn’t lay flat and would pop out of the grooves which is why you can see some black duct tape, but this is my fault for purchasing the wrong type of plexiglass not an issue with the patio door. Anyway I was satisfied with the end result. We got it at the beginning of January and it blocked most of the cold air and we still stayed warm. Still doing well and I gotta say I’m super happy I ended up getting. I’m glad it’s even available considering I had no other options. So the extra stars are for 1 for making a product that fits my balcony door, 2 for being super affordable compared to other patio doors and 3 for keeping my dog and cat super happy as they can people watch whenever they feel like it without having to wait for me to open the balcony door.Edit: For reference my dog is about 55 lb, mixed shepherd breed. Hates motorcycles so he runs through the flap door at full speed whenever he hears one and the patio door has not budged.

I ordered the bronze small model for my cats. While the box said bronze, the actual unit was black. It didn't bother me enough to send it back. The installation was super easy, and the instructions included with the unit were very good and easy to follow. The unit itself isn't as sturdy as it could be, but it is plastic and not metal.I would highly recommend that if you're using it with a sliding glass door that you get a strong wooden dowel to put in the door track to keep the door as tight against the panel as possible. Otherwise the door is basically unlocked and easily broken into.If you buy the small like I did and use the dowel, only a little kid would be able to break into your house if they managed to push the unit itself out of the door. If you bought the largest size, an adult could probably get through. Just a thought.

Good quality but only good for wide patio doors. Otherwise you have to take it out every time you want to go out your self.

Was looking for something to attach to our screen door for our apartment. It doesn’t latch to the door but that’s fine. It is not however big enough for a German shepherd as it claims. We have a 50 pound doodle and she kept hitting her back on the top going through so we got the extension and it’s now perfect. Exactly what we wanted to let our pup play on the balcony and not let flies in!Separately it says to simply slide the extension in and put screws in. Um… no we had to hammer it in and we didn’t bother with the screws that didn’t line up cause it wasn’t going anywhere with how hard we had to hammer it in.
