If you need to tow with more than one vehicle, use this universal fit brake controls wiring harness to switch your brake controller from one vehicle to another. Just splice this pigtail harness into your alternate vehicle, tuck it away, and when you want to switch tow vehicles, plug in your brake controller. Or simply use it to replace a lost or damaged wiring harness. You need this harness if you have a vehicle that does not support a vehicle-specific harness.

I purchased the because it stated it was 31 inches long. "If" you include the connector in the length, that is an accurate statement for the one I received. (Note: The brand name harness for my brake controller, shipping was delayed when I ordered this one because I needed it "now, not later, is only 1 inch shorter and actually cheaper.) I originally ordered this because I needed it now and wanted to make as few in-line splices as possible. I should point out that with the OEM harness that came with the controller, the wires were shorter and this wasn't possible so I based my purchasing decisions on that information. With this harness, the only in-line splices I have are because of the circuit breaker, which are more like terminal connections than splices, and they would have been required no matter what harness I used. I was able to make the remaining terminal connections with no splices using this harness. That was the reasoning when making this purchase. I'm very satisfied. Now that I have used the OEM harness that came with the controller (which required splicing), the OEM brand pigtail harness, and this one, I will probably opt for the OEM pigtail harness (price, the 1 inch difference in length, and the wiring gauge printed on the wires for zero confusion, more for others than for me, being the primary reasons.). Would I buy this again? If the OEM pigtail harness was not available or could not be delivered in the needed time-frame? I would with zero hesitation.

I put this on a 04 dodge ram 1500. It’s an easy install if you understand wiring. Takes less than an hour including taking the dashboard apart and putting it back together. The brake light is the hardest to find so make sure you have the right one. The directions were easy to follow told you what colors to look for. Beware the colors on my wires were faded (the vehicle wires).

The product itself is great and much less than the Tekonsha brand. The install on the 2019 Ford Ranger is another story. I already had the controller, so just needed the vehicle-specific wiring. Why Ford couldn't install a .50 connector under the dash, for a vehicle with a factory tow package, is beyond me.You'll find the wires you need under the left side of the dash near the main wire bundle (that comes through the firewall) wrapped in blue tape. There are 4 wires that will come out when you take the blue tape off. The wires are VERY short so I had a heck of a time trying to get the wires connected. Oh and all those wires have heat wrap on them so you have to get that off to get to the wire. The lavender wire is so small that it took 3 times to try to get to the wire without cutting through it while it got shorter and shorter with each try at stripping. What should've been a 10 minute job with a plug and play connector turned into a 90 minute job with a lot of frustration and naughty words. I finally got it done and the controller works. Like I said, nothing wrong with the product. THEY give you PLENTY of wire to work with. I do recommend this product for the cost and quality. Any similar product will still have the same issue due to this specific vehicle.
