The brake controller had an internal short that was draining the battery. Replaced it with a Ford switch and the problem was resolved.

Always has error code saying "trailer not connected.," so did some research and found videos with people saying this part can catch fire as well. It has never worked right, but unfortunately past the "return date." Wasted money. Immediately removed this out of my truck as soon as saw the video on these as fire hazards. Should be removed from Amazon before someone gets hurt or loses their vehicle and trailer due to malfunction.

Slipped in the hole created by removing the blank below the trailer assist( that was a bit aggravating). Download the zford software and you’re through

Used Forscan and have been using Forscan for years. I know how to setup these devices. This unit does NOT function on a 2017 F150 5.0 XLT with factory tow package. When configured, the device will not correctly apply the gain needed to properly operate the trailer brakes. It will also constantly flash "trailer not connected." With the same configuration, threw in a factory Ford part and everything works as it should. Beware of sellers claiming their part is a factory Ford part. Picked up another one from a different seller on eBay and that part was exactly like this one and had laser etched numbers on the housing instead of the plastic cast part numbers like OEM.

Have a 2019 F150 that did not come with the Brake Controller. Found a youtube video that shows how to install this and was perfect instructions. My F150 had the wiring harness for the Brake Controller connected to the back of the cubby hole. To get it to work I also had to purchase the ELM 327 and download Forscan to update the settings in the trucks computer. Installed the wiring harness, brake controller and updated the computer with NO issues. Everything worked perfectly. The fit looks like it came with my truck.

I purchased this for my 2016 Ford F150 3.6 XL 2 wheel drive. The reason I purchased this was to be able to use a dump trailer. If you already have the tow package this is almost too easy to set up. I did the whole install including hooking up the forscan USB to show the truck computer it was added in about twenty minutes. My truck was easy to find out about the towing package because it is on my steering column Tow and Sport. There are a lot of YouTube videos that will tell you how to install and use the forscan USB. Some have problems with foscan by not following the directions properly. You must type in the site link exactly as it appears on the instructions. I messed up by typing and the computer suggested a link and I clicked it and it was spyware. Quickly backed out and typed the site ignoring the computer suggestion and got right to the site to access the truck computer.Once installed and set up you squeeze the front handles on the trailer brake and you will see “trailer not attached” light up on the dash. If you need to tow a dump trailer get this product immediately!

Does not work properly. Spend the extra money and go get an OEM brake controller. If you do purchase, make sure when you press your brake; you see the gain out in the trailer display. I installed it, made the change with Forescan tool; manually tested it and saw the output. But then a few months later hauled hay and was surprised when I had no trailer brakes.Turned out, the breaker controller only worked when manually applying it. No signal output from pressing the brake.Purchased am OEM, only thing I did was swap it output and have full output when drinking down the road. To note with 2015 f-150 and above, going less then 11mph the output is set to low, one bar output even if you crank it up to 10.
