About this item

  • OSMO Polyx-Oil, The original Hardwax Oil from all natural oils and waxes
  • Clear Stain Matt Finish
  • 190 Square Feet one coat coverage .75L
  • Sunflower oil, Soybean oil, Thissle oil, Carnauba wax, candelilla wax

OSMO Polyx-Oil (the original Hardwax Oil) is our favorite floor finish and is made from natural oils and waxes. Key ingredients in Hardwax Oil include sunflower, soybean and thistle oil, plus two hard, natural waxes—carnauba and candelilla. A Brazilian palm tree, Copernica cerifera, produces the carnauba in its leaves, berries and stalks. Villagers cut down fronds, dry them for several days, and then beat off the wax. The candelilla comes from the outer coating on a desert shrub, Euphorbia antisyphiliti, that grows in northern Mexico. Farmers boil the leaves and stems with water and acid to release the wax.

This product was highly recommend by a long time woodworker. We applied it to a black walnut bar top. Came out beautifully! Easy to apply. We used a clean old undershirt. Dip the cloth and apply a thin coat. Immediately wipe down with another clean/dry cloth. Allowed to dry overnight. Repeat. On the third day, hand buff with soft cloth. That's it! Looks amazing!

I had attempted to use something called poly shades on an oak table. It was stain and polyurethane all in one. Terrible product! I had to strip it off, sand it down, restain and then I tried Osmo, rubbing it in with the non abrasive white pads. After the first coat I was sceptical, but when I applied the second coat, which took a little more rubbing, it turned out beautiful. Thanks!

This finish is beautiful and easy to apply. I applied two initial coats by hand onto a tabletop, then buffed in a third coat with an orbital sander. After letting the coats sit for one week, I brought the tabletop inside. After one week of light use, many marks and scratches were visible. I suggest waiting the full 30 day cure time before light use (instead of the specified one day).

Saw a lot of YouTube hype about it, so I gave it a try. Wow! Osmo Polyx Hardwax Oil is a game-changer! It brings out the natural beauty of wood while providing hardcore protection against wear and tear. Applying it is a breeze, and the result? A sleek, professional finish that's Instagram-worthy. Whether you're refinishing furniture or sprucing up your floors, Osmo Polyx is the ultimate go-to. Trust me, your wood projects will thank you.

I make a lot of custom art frames out of solid wood. I was finishing them with polyurethane. Because of the cold weather I had a hard time trying to find the perfect window and place for poly. I also got tired of the time and effort it took to get a smooth finish. So I gave this a shot. Besides the great finish, I love that it’s nature based and easy to apply. I use its ingredients as a selling point. So far everyone, to include repeat customers have been stoked with the change. Don’t be discouraged by the upfront cost, I finished more than 50 pieces with one can. When I was using poly that would have cost me over $200 due to waste and multiple applications.

I’ve use this a few times as a replacement for the Rubio finish which is too costly and 2 parts. This makes a great finish and the durability hasn’t been tested for a long length of time but is seems very solid thus far. It’s easy to work with, pretty low odor, cost half what Rubio costs and I don’t have to mix anything to use it. Good product and will definitely use again.

Great product. Creates a nice smooth satin finish. MUST apply thin coats but that means it covers a lot more than other finishes

I decided to try OSMO Hard Wax after having a very unpleasant time using Minwax Tung Oil Finish on a previous project.I was completely blown away by how much better this product performed. The minwax tung oil finish had VERY strong and lingering noxious odors, and it irritated my skin many days after it cured. This OSMO Hard Wax oil gave me no irritation, and was close to no odor at all, especially after drying!!As for the application, I used non-abrasive scouring pads. I scrubbed the liquid in extremely thin across the whole surface using the scouring pads, and (this is critically important) scrubbed away all excess using clean scouring pads and paper towels. If you apply it wet and thick and don't scrub+absorb it away immediately, the "wetness" on the surface will dry into an undesirable thick wax on top of the surface.. If you apply it minimal+thin, scrubbing/working the product into the wood, it will cure perfectly.I did two coats total, 1 day apart from each other. The drying time was SO quick, I was able to get 2 coats in in 2 days, to a fully cured/dried result. No odors, no stickiness, just a perfectly finished surface.
