This control was easy to install with all of the wires labeled. The only thing is the switch to select how many speakers you have did not come with instructions. I had to google it to find the correct setting. Other than that the control works great.

This is the fourth volume control I have tried and this is a keeper. I'm not sure why it took me this long to find it. I was looking for a volume control for an inside application that wasn't hideous. It was meant to be on the shelf with my stereo equipment. The first one didn't work at all. The next one seemed to work but if I turned up the volume of my stereo, the resistance in the controller was apparently too high and it over loaded two different receivers so that they shut themselves off. I tried one that is meant to be installed in a wall. Not only was it hideous sitting next to my receiver, there was a constant hiss coming from the speakers. Finally THIS PRODUCT. Meant for outdoor application but works great and looks fine next to my receiver - fully enclosed. It even has a switch inside that allows you to set the resistance depending on how many speakers you are connecting and the instructions are excellent - like real English with a diagram!!. Definitely recommend for purchase.

Most people have no common sense; Therefore, I read reviews and take what they say with a grain of salt. I never write reviews. Please listen to my compelling story to save you time and energy. Went through three volume controls. First volume control, I soldered and heat shrunk the connections. No left channel, one of the “steps” in the volume knob didn’t work at all. Second volume control, tested before soldering connections, worked perfectly. Soldered, heat shrunk, left channel was fuzzy/ almost muted. At this point I’m thinking “did the soldering put THAT much heat into the wire and into the motherboard.” Keep in mind - this is an outdoor piece of equipment, here in Florida, soldering and heat shrinking is the proper way. And no where in the instructions does it indicate how to connect the wires (heat shrink vs crimp connector. On to the THIRD unit, I didn’t test beforehand - my mistake. I crimped all connections, didn’t work at all. Completely dead on arrival. Snipped the wires, Hardwired as if there was no volume control, and stuffed my wires back into the PVC pipe. I’ve been adjusting the volume inside until I can get the patience to try another product. I tested with various Amps, and there are no issues with my wiring. I can 100% verify that these units are JUNK. I did order the impedance switching model; next time I will try the resistor based, which automatically switches the impedance. It shouldn’t matter though, I had the correct impedance selected. I know the ohms of my speakers/ amp. I will try Monoprice company and not OSD. Maybe spend the extra $$ and go with Niles. Please steer clear of this product. There are other reviews that will verify what I am saying. P.S. second picture shows splicing heat shrink and bypassing volume control to verify that the unit was the issue (the first time, left channel) and not my wiring or amp/ receiver.

Those who complain that the box is not large enough for connecting all of the wires, CORRECT. However, you arent going to get ANY box that is larger, so attach a second electrical box and connect the two with piping. the control itself worked great !

Works great with OSD speakers. Used a small piece of PVC conduit to bring the direct burial speaker cable in. Makes for a nice clean installation. Extremely happy with this purchase.

I have always used Nil** brand volume controls. They just work. But I decided to try this brand as was cheaper. Overall looks like a great product BUT be aware the volume control circuit board is large and there is very little room for wires and wire nuts in the box, which is very similar in size to a gray exterior box. Unlike Nil** brand this one gives you wire pigtails. Which you think might be easier, but when you are connecting 8 wires (two speakers) with wires nuts; the inside of the box gets EXTREMELY cramped. The description states "The speaker wire inserts use lock clips and are detachable allowing you to connect with ease to your speakers." This is NOT TRUE. The pigtails are soldered onto the circuit board.The Nil** brand use those wire inserts. It is the wire nuts that take up lots of space. If you were using this for more than two speakers good luck getting it all back into the box. I have wired many houses and it took me longer than usual to get it all into this box. Box perhaps should be a 1/2" deeper to accommodate. My only other negative is it is slightly off gray so it doesn't match the exterior light switch next to it. Otherwise works great!!!

It was exactly as I had hoped it would be. And easy to install. I use it outside so while I am in the hot tub I can control the volume of the music.

I ordered 3 of these and 1 of them was defective, i.e. hard to turn and one of the channels would cut out in some of the volume positions. I've sent it back and ordered another. Overall, I'm happy with it.

It is perfect for the application I'm using it for. Works Great just set the amp volume for zone 2 and control outside volume from switch
