This thing finally arrived, it took a while but that's on Amazon not Nanuk. They delivered the first one to some "parcel locker". Which means someone got a free case.It arrived in a huge box well protected. It weighed 23.6 pounds before cutting the foam. After cutting the foam and placing two rifles inside, it weighed 39.5 pounds. My only knock would be i wish the foam was teh more rigid kind. I might order one from Guardian Foam Inserts, who has a whole line just for Nanuk cases. A huge bonus over other cases.

Great case! Weighs a lot while empty. Loaded up may cause an overweight luggage fee on the airlines.

Couldnt bring myself to shelling out what Pelican was asking for their long rifle cases, glad to have found this one. Not a lightweight but very solid case. I needed a replacement for my last hard case that I had purchased in the mid 80s. This one should be able to protect bang sticks on the way to and from outings long after I am pushing up daisies. Some tool gave it 1 star because it didnt have pull and pluck foam. The description clearly says 3 layers of solid foam with egg crate top foam. Pull and pluck is for disposable shipping boxes not quality rifle cases. I have multiple long arms that I transport at different times and do not want to cut the foam to fit a single specific toy. I would have to have 100 different inserts or 100 different cases. My Savage 110 Elite Precision in 300PRC with 30" barrel and Tract Torric glass fits snug without removing any foam. Though the case is a little short for it if I leave my Area419 Sidewinder on. So I remove it for transporting. If I feel the fit is too snug I can always remove the thin first layer of foam, no cutting involved.

If you can avoid buying a piece of luggage big enough to serve as a coffin I would recommend it. If you simply must preserve yourself on the go...you can't go wrong with this thing. It is designed pretty thoughtfully. You don't notice it at first till you count four big padlock holes (so you can do better thanlocker padlocks) reinforced with steel so you can't zip through the plastic with a cutoff wheel. Mine came with two of the four latches having on board locks as well. They aren't complex keys but them with 4 padlocks should buy you a lot of time to deter an oppotunistic thief from breaking into your luggage in transit. This is a factor if you're packing expensive, fragile and important things you have to check for a flight.I went with it as a rifle case. It's TSA approved. I cut-out all the items that go with the rifle intl the foam. It's about 2 inches thick and you don't need to cut clean through for every single item you'll put into the case. Give about a half inch of clearance from case walls with what you cut into the foam as the case seals a bit over the lip of the bottom foam. It's literally a tank. And looks like a movie assassin case for cool points. Do it. But it measures around 55" standing tall so...don't hurt yourself if you aren't so tall.

I have used Nanuk small cases im the past and this one doesn't dissappoint. Combined with the nanuck locks it is excellent and I got this on sale so I am pleased with it. Better yet, buy direct from their made in canada site

Despite the photos showing it having 2 cubed foam inserts the foam is solid. Great now I get to cut it with an electric knife. Wouldn’t have bought if it was solid foam.

I love Nanuk cases and prefer them over pelicans for the lightness and powerclaw latching with matching durability and this is along the same lines. That reduced weight of the car is much appreciated when loading a full case into a truck. I really like that it has TSA approved locks built into 2 of the powerclaws along with additional reinforced lockable eyelets. In comparison to similar sized pelican I use at work, the 995 is easy latching and unlatching as opposed to slamming down on the latches on a pelican and sometimes hurting fingers when trying to unlatch a full case. Some minor cons: I thought the foam included with the 995 would be cubed/precut to allow plucking like most of the other smaller nanuk cases I have but it wasn’t and would require a sharp knife or bread knife to cutout to how whatever object you’re sizing to fit. The wheels are a bit stiff rolling by hand but seem to work fine once the case is loaded up and seem to roll better than the similar pelican. Make sure you check the dimensions as the wheel wells do cut into the interior storage dimensions along the bottom. The resin used in the case does seem to hold static charge so it picks up all my cat hair when I have it inside the house, which I did not notice on the pelicans.
