Just enough silicone to keep you from burning yourself or needing a hot pad or something.

I am a big fan of the MSR Titanium Kettles and use the 2L, and 1L (900 ml) on my Canoe Trips. On a recent backcountry trip on the Brazeau Loop in Jasper National Park, I packed the MSR 900 ml, the Toaks 550 ml pot. I do my own dehydrated meals and cook them in the pot and use a homemade pot cozy, rather than what many do is the freezer bag rehydration system. I use the Toaks 550 ml for coffee, and boiling water for soups. The trouble of the Toaks 550 ml is no insulated handles so wear gloves which is a bit of a pain. Anyways, thought the MSR camping cup would reduce size and weight, and solve the heat issue with lip and handle insulators. Works fine, but felt just a bit small for all I want to do, so sizing like the Toaks 550 ml I think would be better.

First off, this IS just a mug. No frills (aside from the rubber lip protector which I don’t necessarily care for). But this thing is super lightweight. If you’re car camping, any cup will do. If you’re backpacking, this is the one you want. Super lightweight and basically indestructible.

The MSR Titan Ultralight Titanium Camping Cup arrived so light and well-packaged that its presence was almost imperceptible, immediately setting the stage for its ultra-lightweight nature. This compact yet capable cup, holding about 16 ounces of liquid, has proven to be an indispensable addition to hiking gear. The foldable handles are ingeniously designed to lie flat or extend for use, effectively insulating against heat transfer, making it comfortable to hold even when filled with hot liquids and nest into MSR products.A standout feature is the included silicone lip saver, a needed addition considering the titanium's rapid heat conduction. Our tests showed the exterior of the cup reached 129°F with the water inside at 169°F, five minutes after pouring water at 195°F, in an ambient temperature of 72°F. After 30 minutes, the water temperature inside the cup decreased to 110°F, illustrating the cup's thermal performance in maintaining heat.Despite its heat retention, the thin titanium construction means liquid cools down faster than in more insulated containers, a point to consider for those needing longer heat preservation. The cup's initial exterior heat might require cautious handling, but the silicone lip guard effectively mitigates this, allowing for comfortable sipping at higher temperatures. The cup's integration with other MSR products through nesting capabilities and its ultralight attribute significantly enhance its appeal for backpackers and hikers. Additionally, internal measurements add a practical touch for cooking and beverage preparation in the great outdoors. While the price point is on the higher side, it reflects the premium quality, durability, and convenience of a lightweight, easily transportable product, making it a worthy investment for serious outdoor enthusiasts. In conclusion, the MSR Titan Ultralight Titanium Camping Cup marries lightweight design with functional excellence, making it a top choice for those prioritizing portability and quality in their outdoor gear. Despite minor concerns about heat retention and handling when hot, its overall performance and compatibility with other camping essentials make it an invaluable part of our outdoor adventures.

When I received the box I thought it was empty. It’s seriously that lightweight. It also has a silicone seal around the top to prevent burning your lips. It looks great and of course it’s great quality being an msr product. It has marks on the inside for measuring water which is great for freeze dried meals while hiking and things. I would recommend

I found nothing wrong with the cup. It is well-made and I like the protective silicone on the handles and rim. For me, it is too easy to find a similar cup for half the cost.

I often hunt or backpack and am always looking for weight savings without sacrificing functionality. This cup is extremely light but of high quality. The included heat reducing silicone at key areas is great. You won’t have to worry about burning your fingers on the handle after using direct heat to warm or boil water, and the silicone around the sipping area protects from burning your mouth. Thoughtfully designed product!

Have used this on a couple of hikes. Trying to keep my trail weight at 20+ pound (2 to 3 days) has been much easier with this multi-function titanium cup!
