Picking the right toy is one of the most enduring dilemmas faced by parents and grandparents, by uncles and aunts, and by godfathers and godmothers. Kids love toys, but nowadays there’s too much emphasis on gaming consoles and handheld video games. As a gift-giver, your responsibility is to give them something fun that can get them outdoors. Is a Go-Kart Torque Converter or Clutch Better?

What's better, a torque converter or a clutch? The answer really depends on its intended use, which is ultimately related to your driving habit. As torque converters handle low torque ranges more easily, they’re most commonly used on off-road go-karts. They perform better at lower speeds and are ideal for stop-and-go situations. This is because off-road go-karts are sometimes required to climb uneven terrain at lower speeds.

Clutches on the other hand are snappier and perform better at high speeds. They’re designed to be constantly engaged, which makes them ideal for racing go-karts. High performance go-karts even have a multi-disc clutch to cater for various torque ranges. So, if you’re comparing a go-kart torque converter vs a clutch, you should make a choice depending on what you’re using it for.

Habits That Can Ruin A Clutch - Keep Your Machine Safe

Clutch-4

  • Driving too slowly: A clutch starts to engage around 2,000 rpm and will lock up around 2,600 rpm.

  • Short stop and go driving: The longer you drive at full throttle the better off it is for the clutch, because it gives it a chance to cool off before the next engagement.

Clutch-5

  • Driving with the foot on the brake: This is a problem with new drivers that are unsure of themselves.

  • Changing the size of the tires: Putting on tires that are larger than what came with the kart will result in clutch problems. No larger than 15" tall.

Clutch-6

  • Weight: A centrifugal clutch is designed to be able to move a certain amount of weight.

  • Gear ratio: The sprocket on the engine and the one on the rear axle should have a ratio close to 1:6.(10 tooth = 60 rear sprocket)

Warm Tips:

About the Clutch Smoke:

The clutch weight rpm just isn’t excessive sufficient. The engine not being highly effective sufficient sometimes is the result of a mismatch in ratios to the rear-drive wheels. So the true motive is that the ratio just isn’t steep sufficient, and subsequently, the engine smokes the clutch.

The treatment for the primary clutch smoking drawback is to change the driveline in order that the general ratio is steeper. The easy technique is to extend the rear sprocket diameter.

So the clutch engagement rpm must be taken under consideration in any other case the clutch will smoke on the secondary jackshaft mounting place.

Step 2: Remove drive chain from drive wheel sprocket(axle sprocket). Remove bolt and washers from end of engine crankshaft while noting location of spacers and washers for installing new clutch.

Step 3: Remove clutch from engine crankshaft. Install new clutch by aligning key inbore of clutch with keyway in engine crankshaft. Slide clutch onto shaft.

Step 4: Reinstall bolt and washers that hold clutch on crankshaft. Tightenbolt.

Step 5: Reinstall drive chain on clutch and drive wheel sprocket(axlesprocket).

It has had limited use so far, but so far, so good. It's tricky to install. Make sure you line everything up. It is a great value compared with going to the kart supply store.

What I liked was that the key way was already installed and that I didn't have to line it up.
