These and all other brands of post and rail hardware are expensive and much too difficult to use. I just use thin, small head screws and a wood button or wood filler. Easy to use and much more effective at a fraction of the cost. When you are a contractor, this matters.

I purchased these because this was my first attempt at upgrading our staircase. After checking several methods, I decided on this application and from the the photos you will see it worked out well. I must indicate, I went to the hardware store to get a little stronger screw for safety reasons.

Oh my! We had tried most every other way to attach a stair rail to the other side of our stairs. Purchased this home 4 years ago and previous owners only installed one stair rail for a 6' long stairway. Took several falls from not having anything to hold onto going up stairs so I was determined to put in a hand rail. Our usual contractor was booked out for over a year so we knew we had to do something ourselves.This fastener worked incredibly well; I'm a woman in my 60's and if I can do it, so can you! There's a You Tube video that I watched prior to installation but the instructions are also very helpful.Installed and very secure within an hour of my (inexperienced) time!

the concept is good, but don't expect your handrail stay in place and to NOT rock back and forth. The best thing I did to secure my handrail tightly to the newell post was to buy a pocket jig set.
