There is not a way to clamp the mount to the microphone. You put the mic in a rubber sleeve and insert that into the clamp. It has a ring of thicker rubber on the outside that is supposed to push on the mic and hold it steady in the mount. The problem is, it does not really clamp tight enough. It does hold it in position long enough to get the XLR cable attach. Then, the cable is really what holds it in place. It works, but I have not used them in a performance yet. I'm not sure what is going to happen.

I was able to use this on my modded Oktava M012 pencil condenser mic. Fits like a glove. Keeps its position. I put about 5 lbs of pressure in the tightened position. Didnt budge at all.

I have an Oktava MK-012 with the standard metal mount on a desk mounted boom arm above my head. The mic it notorious for handling noise. so tapping/typing on my desk transferred a lot of energy into the boom arm and was audible in the mic. I tried this shock mount to avoid that and the differences were subtle, if anything. It did not improve. It's very inexpensive when compared to a Rycote shock mount, for example, but not nearly as effective. I'm now using a rycote style shock mount that came with my Rode Videomic Go II and so far it works a lot better.

This works equally well with my AT875r and my Okta a Mk012. It's not as effective as pricier models, but this definitely alleviates much of the vibrations heard through a hard mount.

I tried to make it fit the 23mm sE8. I tried for too long, but it won't fit. Great price for a shock mount, but you might try something else. This mount may fit my smaller mic (which I already have a shock mount for), but it doesn't fit the sE8.

good quality, a bit overpriced but still very happy with everything about it

So far, I think it's great. Finding a decent shock mount for a shotgun mic has always been difficult, with most on the market being very cheap and flimsy. This works more like the shock mount I have for my studio voice over mic, but made for smaller diameter microphones. My Rode NTG-1 fits snug and secure, and doesn't droop in the front like it has in the past with other mounts I've used, even with a deadcat. I also like that I'm not stuck with just a hot/cold shoe mount and can use it on a regular mic stand for off camera use. For the price, it can't be beat.
