We have travelled the world extensively and have used SIM cards frequently.This sim is the worst we have ever encountered.Calling home to Canada worked well, as long as you were calling an individual. If calling a business with a trunk line, it was impossible to get a static free line.After 3 days the data function of the card would not operate so we could only use data if we had wifi. Will never buy this for Mexico again. We will buy an American sim that functions North America’s wide.

The SIM card came with instructions on how to activate prior to us leaving for Mexico. When we got off the plane it was up and running.TELCEL seems to have the best coverage in Mexico.

Worked great upon arrival in Mexico.Easy to check data usage. Appeared to have more than the 2GB described as at the end of two weeks have over 2GB left, even after extensive use of maps and internet browser.unlimited calling and texting was great too.

doesnt work. All instructions are a lie.I followed EVERY method to activate this, including visiting a telcel store in Mexico.these are scam expired card with no data plan connected at all.Comes with a paper card that says "oh yeeeees. We will deeeeefinitely load the data before your trip!"

I got this a couple days before traveling to Mexico. Calls and data work perfect. But I couldn’t get messages. I had to add data after a week, I got the 5g. And I ran out after just a week. I added some for $200 pesos. Like $10 dollars . Also tried to set up Uber but I couldn’t, that number had been used to another account. Overall. OK.

Bought this just in case we didn't have time to get a local sim and it worked perfectly. Followed instructions sent re: activating the sim and all went well.

After getting pillaged by Verizon on two monthly bills for roaming charges (I traveled mid month to mid month) I went looking for an alternative. After many years of travel to Mexico, Mexican friends, etc. I found TelCel to be the clear winner for cell service in Mexico. MexicoSimCard.com had the right TelCel package for my upcoming trip and has options to refill data from their website. When you receive the chip, regardless of Data Package, you'll need to pay attention to several things. 1st, the chip package is opened. This is so Mexicosimcard.com can "set-up your chip" to function when it arrives at your door. 2nd In the package you'll receive a colorful coversheet outlining what you need to do next, i.e. REGISTER YOUR CARD. 3rd There is additional information on the colorful coversheet that you should investigate, namely the mexicosimcard.com website, which has refills, additional packages and their AWESOME Customer Service email address. These folks are PRO and super quick to respond. Are you paying a premium for the TelCel Chip? Yes. Can you buy one darn near anywhere in Mexico? Yes. Are you fluent in Spanish and able to navigate the process of setting up an account on your now deactivated phone? Will you be able to speak to a non-english speaking customer service rep at TelCel to get your phone fired up and working properly? On that note, during registration you'll be asked to provide an entry date to Mexico. This is to activate your chip to maximize your data. Note that the 2 GB data expires in 26 days and the 3 GB goes off in 30 days. Maybe think about working your trip backwards and activating your new chip a few days before you head out to make sure all is well. Bottom Line: For a few bucks more, buy the chip now, enjoy the peace of mind knowing your phone works, and that you can recharge without having to stand in line. Did I mention the GREAT Customer Service? They are AWESOME!

I ordered two of these, one with 3gb of data, one with 8gb of data, for myself and a companion traveling to Mexico City. The good: this worked well nearly everywhere we traveled between Mexico City and Puebla, with occasional loss of service in the mountains (but that's expected anywhere including in, say, Colorado). No problems with the service once it was fully operational. The bad: I expected to be able to simply put the SIMs in the phones and be ready to go. Instead, I experienced various errors, then read the description saying you need to go to a web site and activate them. When you go to the web site, it asks what day service will start. I think they expect you to do this in advance of your trip. I did it actually in Mexico. Luckily, I had hotel wifi to use for this, otherwise I don't know what I'd have done. Even so, I don't know if a human has to process the request or what, but the service seemed to "halfway" work shortly after activation, but wasn't fully working until the next day.Long story short, these work as advertised once activated, but do yourself a favor and pre-activate them via the web site before your trip.

I purchased this SIM Card to use on a global phone. I followed the directions and activated it in the US before I went and was able to confirm the functionality of data before departing in the US. When I arrived in Mexico, the data functions turned off, and I was only able to make calls/texts. The staff did try to help, but since I was on vacation, I didn't want to stay tethered to wifi to work with them to resolve after a couple of different suggestions.I would be careful using this service; my phone has worked in many different countries (even a week prior to using a different sim for a different trip), so I am confident the phone can do this, and I have done it many times. The other thing is the fact I was able to make it work only outside of Mexico is extremely frustrating.

I purchased this through Amazon about 5 weeks before our trip to Mexico. The instructions say to register the card, and then test it by putting the SIM in your phone well before leaving and making sure that you have a signal. That's exactly what you need to do, but would seem that you'd want to make sure that you have data access as well (at least). However, because the seller refills the card the evening before the start of your trip (which you tell them the start date via the website to register your card), there isn't any data access at the time of testing your card - just a signal. So, no need to be concerned.I emailed the seller about that and one other question. Sofia replied very quickly and was very helpful.During the actual trip, everything worked very well. The data speeds at and around the Cabo airport were horrible, but that's more of a Telcel problem where they probably need to install more antennas there. Elsewhere the signal and speed were very good!We'll be using the SIM Cards again later this year. I'd advise getting an inexpensive SIM Card holder, such as the "Vranky 3 Colors 3PCS Nano SIM Cards Holder Aluminum Case Bag Storage Box": www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CMWKNS2.
