Great replacement care for my husband's 45 year old Martin. His old case was falling apart and putting the guitar at risk of damage. This case is very well made and sturdy.

The molded case doesn’t close exactly as it should but when the latches are locked it is ok. After about a month now it is giving off a slight chemical odor as well. It seems to fit my guitar well though and leaving the case open for a while should air out the uncured foam smell.

I have a D-35 from the late 80's and it came with the old style, i presume a wood case with the old tension /movable latches. That case through use lost a couple latches and was in need of replacement..I received my new case yesterday and it came in perfect condition.. The first thing i noticed was it is much lighter than the original which if its as strong is a great feature...The moment of truth came when i put my guitar in the case and it fit like a glove... The case seems to be of good quality and the center storage space seems to have enough room for what i need to put in it....Overall i think its a cheaper made case than the original but replacing the wood with molded plastic may have no effect on its protective quality.. I still like the old latches....I'm happy with the purchase and hope it last as many years as the original

I found this to be the PERFECT replacement for an original Martin 345 black case which housed my Martin 12-string. Unlike the old 345, the Martin 640 handle is perfectly positioned where the case is balanced when carried. Although it feels much sturdier and has 2 more latches than the 345, the 640 case is also approximately 4lbs lighter as well. Overall, a well designed case you can depend on to protect your prized Martin. Well worth the money, I'd buy again in a heartbeat!

Did not fit the Martin D17M which is a standard series dreadnought guitar. The folks at Martin were no help at all.
