I don’t typically write reviews that would be this bad however when you pay 3x the price for a product because of the claims they make and it doesn’t live up to that I do. I paid extra for the extra strength magnet and the claim that it will work up to 25 mm. This weekend I attempted to use it on a wall with about 13 mm thick. The magnet would at least hold it in place. Any movement and the magnet bold would be broken. While I didn’t expect it to work quite as well as advertised but well less than half is well beyond what I would expect. Based on that I would not recommend this.

Would work for thinner, not insulated walls, try it on a thick wall and you might get to practice your patch repair like I did.

This is better than fish tape and fiberglass rods when fishing wire through a wall with insulation.

Unfortunately, this did not work as expected. I needed to fish speaker wire behind an insulated wall and couldn’t move the magnet more than a foot or so past the insulation. It also marked up the paint where I slid the outer magnet along the wall. Disappointed and will have to try something else.

I first saw a name brand version of this and it piqued my interest. I just installed some TV's in the kids room and wanted to run the wires through the wall. When I did the TV in our master bedroom I had used a fish tape and it took forever and was really awkward and clunky. When I did my kids TV's it made running the power cord and HDMI's a snap. The magnets are really super strong. There's more than enough line once so you can pull your cables through. What was cool was, my cables got hung up on something inside the wall. I was able to maneuver the cables around and get past it with no retries or issues. Great product and a great price.

I needed to get a 14/3 wire to an existing switch for a new 3-way I was setting up. The finished wall was insulated. I drilled a 3/4" hole in the top plate and a 3/4" hole in the side of the plastic switch box. I was able to use the included small "bait" (as they refer to it) and the magnet and pull the string from the top down to the switchbox and fish it out with needle-nosed pliers. I was then able to tie my 14/3 wire to the string and pull it into the box. No other solution would work short of punching a hole in the drywall. The magnet was plenty strong to pull the "bait" along next to the drywall, away from the insulation.I am sure there are stronger systems (mag-pulls) available but this one was priced right and worked well for my limited use needs.

I wish I had this 5 years ago when I bought this house but better late than never! This wire puller is an invaluable tool for adding new outlets, cable wires, etc in existing walls. The magnets are strong (get them anywhere within inches of each other and they will snap together) and as you will see in my video, it works well even through solid wood. My only issue is that the tin they include for storage doesn't hold the actual snake itself which is pretty useless. Like others, I have cut out a section to put it in but I shouldn't have had to do that. Also, my tin arrived dented in a perfectly undamaged box so I'm sure I got either a return or someone didn't do good quality control when they were assembling the pieces. No huge deal but sloppy either way.
